A New Me

Vicki reflects on her journey in the O.C. and welcomes Heather to the fold.

By Vicki Gunvalson

Welcome back everyone to Season 7. I hope you enjoyed the first episode of this brand new season. I have been told by Bravo, that they feel this will be our best season yet. Although there won't be any tables tipped over or wine thrown. . .you will see some of us get a little heated up with screaming outbursts instead. Something I for one am not proud of, but when it's needed. . .it's needed. I'm apologizing ahead of time if any of you are offended.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

Tonight's episode was pretty mellow, I thought. I laughed at myself when Mike and I were straightening up the house and looking at my pillow smashing technique. I started asking some of my friends if they do the same and they agreed that all pillows need to be smashed in the middle. Not up for negotiations.

This morning while I was driving up to Los Angeles in the dark, I reflected back on where I was seven years ago when we launched our first episode. My family and I were naïve to reality TV, and really didn't have any clue on what was in store for us. Briana was a senior in high school and Michael had just gone off to college at CU Boulder. Now they are 25 and 26 and off on their own. I was working in my home selling life insurance with Lauri, and nobody in the outside world really knew my name. Wow, my have things changed.

Watching Gretchen and Tamra go to lunch and discuss their past issues was interesting to me. How can Gretchen just put the past behind her and simply forgive Tamra for all the hurt she has put her and Slade through? From what Gretchen has told me, it was easier to forgive then keep fighting. Maybe that's a lesson for all of us. I just don't know if I could do have done it. While I was watching Tamra give Gretchen a friendship bracelet with a key on it and "locking up the past and entering a new future," I thought WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?!?

Tamra introduced Heather to our group by inviting her to my dinner party. When I met her, it was an immediate "Wow" moment. She was absolutely stunning, classy, and the only one who brought me a hostess gift. I liked her immediately and thought. . ."finally someone I can connect with."

I felt bad for Alexis tonight seeing Peggy walk in my dinner party. You could cut the air with a knife. The ended the season finale last year with such an uncomfortable situation with Alexis finding out Peggy dated Jim. How uncomfortable.

My business Coto Insurance is still growing, and I still love working there. As most of you know Donn and I are at the final stages of settling our property and our divorce. It's unbelievable that it's already been 16 months since I filed and we separated. Donn is still active in my kids' lives, and we are very amicable, which I am very grateful for. We truly want the best for each other, and realized we weren't the best for one another. My son Mike is doing a fantastic job, and he is growing his book of business and really becoming an amazing insurance specialist. Briana is still practicing nursing and works the night shift and fortunately still loves her job.

As you will see this year, I am dating a great man named Brooks. He has become my best friend, my true partner, and someone that I really enjoy being with. I hope you enjoy watching a new me this season.
