As the season is coming to an end, it's so weird to watch this episode and reflect back. My relationships with many of these women have changed and grown. So to go back and see where I was when we shot this and what I was feeling is a little challenging, but I will do my best.
Walking into Vicki's house was a real treat. I knew she had redone everything since her divorce and the remodel job she did was exquisite -- down to the finest detail. It was cool to support my friend in her beautiful home. She takes a lot of pride in it and she should!
I had never heard "Radio Slade" or any of the comedy bits about Vicki before she played them for us that day. I don't think I can express to you how sad, awkward, and broken that moment was. To see Vicki's obvious pain from Slade's words was hard to stomach. We sat there listening to him ripping on her until I finally had to ask her to turn it off. Slade should have to sit in a room with Vicki while she listened to his words. Perhaps this would help him realize how powerful they are. That said, I don't think people are all bad or all good and I don't think Slade is some horrible man. I believe he has been hurt, and so he is trying to hurt in return. That is what I meant when I said "Hurt people hurt people." That doesn't excuse his actions at all. I just hope when he watches this he can grow from it.
Lydia is the least Christian Christian I've ever seen! If someone insults her, she attacks and attacks and attacks, and never ever lets it go. If she insults anyone, they're expected to DROP IT RIGHT NOW. No turning the other cheek or forgiveness for this faux Christian.
If you made Vicki sit and watch the reactions of all the people she has hurt, she would be watching for a week straight.
I am a woman, what Vickie has said about Slade has been far worse than what he has said about her. Why don't you tell Vickie to apologize and be the bigger person.......fair is fair.
Lydia, i think that you need to stop jumping in everyone else,s business. you are the biggest sh.t-stirrer! you made such a big deal out of Slade's cheeseburger comment, then at Vicki's party you brought it up again. I am a Christian and i don't think you are setting a very good example as a Christian if you cant even forgive a comment someone made. i think that you just wanted a reason to say Slade had offended you like he has others. certainly got you plenty of camera time, acting like a 12 year old whining about a comment some boy made to you on the playground. You seriously over reacted. as far as your mom's pot smoking goes, if she isn't doing it in your house, or around you or your kids, then leave her alone. it's not illegal in California so drop it. if that is the worst thing she does then congrats. so act SO wounded by the fact that she smoked while you were a kid. So what? at least she wasnt out drinking and driving or prostituting! Stop judging. you seem to judge everyone for the things they either say or do, if you dont agree with them. an opinion, which is fine to have, doesnt mean imposing your beliefs on others. Besides, pot is a plant, created by God. she is not manufacturing meth for crying out loud! get a grip and try to focus on the important things, like making sure your maid has done your laundry.
Lydia it was awful the way Ryan treated your Mom. He looks like he might be violent. Really scary. That being said , you like to make waves. That's not being real. You like to act sweet and like you don't know what's going on. Your not innocent. Stop hiding behind being a Christian . You want to make trouble so everyone notices you.
if I was your mom I would be so ashamed and hurt by you. You throw your mom under the bus all the time just to have a story line.
It saddens me to see the bandwagon of "Let's All Hate on Lydia" jumped on so rapidly and with such ferocity. When she was first introduced, looking and sounding like a 17 year old and immediately making the bad mistake of informing us that she came from two really REALLY rich families and was a devout Christian, I thought, "Oh NO! Bravo is giving us ANOTHER airhead in the just barely dull-normal IQ range, with the vocabulary of a third grader [ahem... Teresa, Gretchen, Porsha, Brandi] only THIS one is going to claim that men and dinosaurs walked side by side together, and that humans have occupied the earth for 40,000 years!" But I gave her a chance and found her to be incredibly refreshing, no facial plumpers or fish lips or boob job yet(!), playful, not cynical or jaded, not about showing us her closet or her Perfect Mothering skills. Lydia to me is truly a breath of fresh air, a working partner to some degree in her families' businesses, open minded and willing to find what she can like and enjoy in her fellow cast mates, very quick to get to the heart of a guardedly snide conversation and cut through hints and suggestions to zero in on the exact bull's eye at the center of the conflict; funny, quick and light in her own conversation, and seeming to want to take on the roll of peacemaker by friendliness and sincerity (evidenced by the Canada trip she hosted and just refused to let fall into failure with her deft subtle changing of paces/places, find some kind of resolution for now and then quickly move on attitude, instead of laying on some thick preachy wisdom of the televangelists). This is my first year to the series as well, and it took me about three episodes to recognize Gretchen's incurable abhorrence and Slade's underhanded and rude "Let me fix your body" comment which came prior to "How do you do?" and Lydia's second fearlessness in calling him out for comparing her darling dress at Vicki's winter party to one of those vulgar "Dancing with the Stars" costumes. She won't back down to his chauvinism, she gives better than he manages to, and she doesn't go to pieces or need her husband to come to her rescue. (In fact her husband watched her take on Slide with smiling admiration.) As to the bachelorette party, for me male strippers are not a moral-religious issue either, although I do feel my participation in one would be hurtful to my husband; I just find the idea of oiled up then sweaty Speedo clad men thrusting their genetalia anywhere near any of my body parts repulsive, and would always opt out of that entertainment too, not because I'm a prude but because any such line up would be repugnant to every one of my senses, and I'm reminded of my Mama telling me about all pubic flotsam and jetsam floating on the sidewalks and alleys, "Put that down! You don't know WHERE it's been!" The magazine dust-up with Heather made both these women appear way more petty and mean-spirited than either should allow herself to be, and was a huge turn off in both. So what if Lydia and her husband laughed a litte bit when they discussed the latest monthly cover request? I'm sure this occurs for every layout... I think Heather is (or was until this snit) 100% class, and so is her house, but I laughed a little too when I saw the monogram in the marble entry. The magazine is one of Lydia's family enterprises in which she is directly involved, and as it turned out, Marioyn Monroe got the cover and a spread, Heather and her husband got an absolutely beautiful portrait which might very well enhance both their careers, and a breathtaking spread of their home just in time to create buzz about it in the real estate market--free advertising to a built-in target audience!--and Lydia, one of the magazine's owners, got a beautiful spread of herself just because 1) she's an owner and gets what she wants; and 2) as Slade pointed out, since her body is lacking the burgers he would feed her,she is model-thin and looks great in size 0000 couture. So to me the magazine kerfuffle was a win-win for both women, which they both sorta ruined by being Mean Girls about it. :::tAnd nothing to do with nothing, but if I were an editor choosing a magazine cover between Heather and Lisa Vanderpump, there would be no question that I'd choose Lisa because the magazine is called "Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine" and Lisa lives there and epitomizes that lifestyle, and because Lisa has way more facial and name recognition. (Even Bravo TV chose to use her for most of the grand finales of its fantastic summer TV ad campaign.) Heather shouldnt't be insulted about the McLaughlin's chuckle about the cover (Does Heather ask for top billing among the guest stars in the TV show credits? No, because that would be arrogant. Same thing goes for all media--she should just be glad she got in!) Lydia shouldn't insult Lydia for being insulted. And after watching Kim Zolciak, Quad and the Atlanta doctors' wives goon squads, Joe Gorga go at it with Joe Guidice at his own son's Christening party, and bare-tummied Michaele Salahi crash a State Dinner, it's a relief to think of somebody somewhere behaving anything like a princess in one of these series. Lydia was wrong to say it, but seriously, a monogrammed marble foyer? Something with the same air of that sometimes does find itself on Heather's invisible tiara, and I adore Heather! She's the clambake Jackie Kennedy of the group!(And we all know Jackie O would have said no to a monogrammed foyer.) That reunion part 1 hissy was not the best moment for either of them. Lydia, Heather--Think that you could be living between Camille Grammer's psychic and Brandi Glanville, then "clap hands and a bargain." And in spite of the ways I've trashed Gretchen, I do think she is the most beautiful and sexy women currently in the public eye anywhere, and I don't care if it's fake from her bleached hair to her heels--her hair and skin color, her astonishing ice blue eyes, her gorgeous creamy skin and the shape of her face, each of her facial features, her voluptuous peaches and cream body and dewy warm and seashell pink skin color, the shape of her neck and shoulders, arms, waist, T & A, her hands and fingernails, wrists, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, feet. She is neither muscular nor un-toned but looks just incredibly soft and fruit-ripe; she is neither chubby nor skinny; she is simply a curvy, gorgeous, physically flawless sex goddess!
Lydia, it sure didn't take you long to join the two faced club. You are as bad as Tamara and Vicki and you stick your nose into things of which you have no idea and are none of your business. Seems you "protest to much" about a cheeseburger comment? Didn't take you long to become a mean girl did it? Quit acting "holier than thou" because you have proven you aren't. I am embarrassed for you, I think I just realized why you act the way you do, you realized you weren't getting camera time like the others so you decided to start stirring to pot so you would be relevant. Good luck with that...lol
Hold on just one minute!!!! I'm watching the Reunion Part I and YOU just said "I make jokes, I'm funny" when Heather held your feet to the fire... but when Slade made a joke and said something funny.... you crucified him!!!! Hmmmmmm
Slade is not the slightest bit funny. He has to go down to the lowest comments, such as people's looks, in order to make a joke. The joke is on him however as he IS a huge joke. He is once again out of a job and not supporting his son. I so wish he and Gretchen would get off the show he is old news and more tiresome than Vicki. They always talk about Vicki being the longest running housewife. Why doesn't anyone point out he has been on the show just as long as she has except as a "hanger on".
Lydia, you are amazing! I love your hubby too.sorry, but he is handsome, loving towards you, sweet, smart, and most of all he is a Christian. You can tell how much he loves you too. its nice to see that. anymore reality tv is all about who can tear down who and you are so opposite. all season, you were so straightforward and nice to everyone. I hope you stay!~
Oh Lydia you LOVE to stir the pot. Slade said nothing bad about you and you just go on and on. Shame on you. Thisgs will settle down and you have to get them started again. You should be ashamed of yourself. Not very christian like is it.
I completely agree with you. He has no respect for woman and should watch how he makes them feel by what his words do.
I like you very much. You are a true reflection of your mom, sweet and caring and loveable. I am truly saddened by Ryan's treatment of your mom. It was a disgusting display of disrespect and I would never ever tolerate my son behaving that way towards any person. I was shocked on how he lied about how everything took place and the anger in his eyes was very disturbing. I pray that Briana and Troy are always safe and loved and that Ryan doesn't turn his anger on her. It's really troubling as we viewers have always loved Briana and have thought of her as a very strong, independent and very much grounded young lady with such a bright future.
Never mind all this, Lydia. I see you try to enjoy everyone, encourage them to get along, and be a peacekeeper. No problem with you here. The rest of the housewives could all use a bit of influence from you.
And you are not at all ugly. I find you quite striking.
Lydia, You may want to go back and watch all the malicious things that Vicki and Tamra have done to Gretchen and Slade over the seasons. As soon as Tamra hit the scene, she and Vicki hosted a party with the sole purpose of getting Gretchen wasted. Then, Tamra's teenage son hit on Gretchen. It was disgusting. Perhaps you could spend more time trying to teach Vicki and Tamra how their actions are so hurtful.
Saw Alexis on the after show after last nights episode and she said she felt bad for Gretchen after the reunion because people were ganging up on her and she even texted her to tell her so. I was surprised because Alexis calls Gretchen a liar and is right in there with all the other women bashing Gretchen. I guess she was afraid to stand up for Gretchen or show her any compassion at the reunion because then the other women would be mad at Alexis again. So sad.
I am so disgusted with Ryan. He wants to divert all his issues onto Brooks...he talks and gossips...he apparently was unaware the mic's inside the house were on.
I hope Brianna sees what she has married and sees what her son can grow into and leaves this 'man'.
@firstname.lastname@example.orgVicki has apologized many times over. Slade is a grown man, time to move on.....
@srleedom Amen to that. So true!
My thoughts exactly< thank you!
Lydia could have talked behind his back about his comment, instead she set boundaries right away as to how she will allow him to treat her. And Slade likes to say he only insults women to have said things about him, so it was a legitimate reason to remind him at the party that the truth is Lydia had never said a word against him, yet he was trying to bully her too.
@grub Too long to read.
@brilliantblogger777 She needs a a DOUBLE cheese burger!
Slade doesn't make jokes, he insults women.
@brilliantblogger777 I just watched the Reunion Part 1 also.
Round 1: Goes to Gretchen
Vicki got caught lying......again.
"Gretchen, i don't hate you. I wish you the best."
Gretchen: If that is true then why did text Tamra and call me a
_________ - __________.
Vicki "I never said that."
Tamra "Yes, you did."
The list goes on and on. Vicki gets tied up like a pretzel
with her unending lies.
@lgrant ... she's being AUTHENTIC she said... NOT!!!
you are so wrong. here we go-the Christian bashing has begun..please,get a life!~
AGREE, AGREE, AGREE!!!
You are "CORRECT" if you not on TEAM VICK, she cries like an 3 year old little girl....... VICKI, HEATHER, & TAMARA ARE VERY TWO-FACED.....Hopefully Gretchen & Slade want be back let these "GIRLS" have this show....I'm very disappointed in Tamara maybe they act this way because we all know that GRETCHEN & SLADE don't have that much "MONEY" like the rest of them....Ms. Lydia, you need not to come back either or you will be caught up too... "BEWARE OF THESE (3) VICKI, HEATHER & TAMARA....
I also love that Lydia has her own style...she is not trying to be a cookie cuter cutout, she is her own person.
@saucy1949 Vicki needs to leave the RHOC. Bring back
Lauri Peterson full time. Lauri spells out the simple truth during
the reunion show. Vicki is a hypocrite. Also, we all saw Vicki
behave like a 15 year old in Mexico. --- My Plan Worked ---
The time has come for some changes on RHOC.
@Bigwednesday I agree Ryan got a little out of control on the last show, but I can also understand that he is under a lot of stress having to leave his wife and child again to go to Afghanistan. I cant imagine how I would act having all that on my mind and Vicki and Brooks being together and then not being together, he feels like the man of the house and has to keep being deployed and leaving them. Thank you Ryan for your service and come home soon to Brianna and Troy. May you be safe everyday.
@grandmaforever @lgrant ohh hush grandmaforever stop playing the christian card. I am and some of us are christians too and we have bad opinions of lydia because they are true and we can't stand her character it has NOTHING to do with her religion stop stop playing the religion card it just makes you look stupid.
