What Is the Keto Diet? Experts Weigh In... and Celebs Sound Off

Back in October, Tamra Judge took a stand against the buzziest diet du jour: She told The Feast that she tried the Keto diet until it made her sick, and that she had major "concerns" about the whole approach. Not least among them, she said, was this: "It doesn't work."

Well, a lot has happened in the world of Keto since The Real Housewives of Orange County bodybuilder made those comments.

Earlier this month, celeb trainer Jillian Michaels made news for calling the controversial Keto diet just a "bad idea." Following those remarks, an array of celebs spoke out to passionately defend the diet. It got "intense."

Well, now Michaels can count Tamra as a new celebrity defender taking her side in the raging Keto wars.

"I totally believe in Jillian Michaels," Tamra told The Feast by phone while discussing her new CBD line, VENA Wellness. "It’s just such a high-fat [diet] and that was the problem I was having."

She said, "I usually eat pretty clean and to eat such high fat [as I did on Keto] — it just didn’t feel good. And I didn’t feel good as well."

Overall, Tamra said, people who take Keto's rules as the letter of the law are making a big mistake. They hear that "they can eat cheese and they can eat butter and they can eat bacon and all that stuff — but they can have absolutely zero carbs and that’s not good for your body. You need that," she said. "They do see results because they’re cutting all the carbs out — but if they would’ve add a little bit of fruit and take away the very fattening cheese, butter, all that stuff, they would see the same results."

For Tamra, it's not about fad dieting anyway — it's about making long-lasting life choices. These days, "I don’t really follow any diet," she told The Feast. "I just follow a lifestyle."
