I am a sugar addict. No scratch that -- complete sugar and sugar-free addict. I had no idea that sugar was in almost everything I put into my body or how horrible sugar substitute was! I grew up in a diet soda, diet everything household. I’m a grab and go person, so I depend on protein bars, shakes, really anything within an arm’s reach (including the occasional fast food run). It goes against everything Jackie teaches, and while I know that cutting sugar is going to be extremely difficult, I am done being unhealthy, and I know that I need a change.
To be quite honest Jackie scares me a little bit -- no one can be THAT intense all the time…I guess we will see how this all shapes up!
Oh my gosh! I am the same way. I went through my refridgerator last night after the show and threw out all my sugar and sugar-free "garbage". I had no clue how much sugar is actually in the sugar-free stuff. The stuff that is "fat-free" is loaded with sugar. This morning I went through my pantry and some of the things I thought were good for me have tons of sugar! I had a whole grain wheat and bran cereal that says " low fat, low sodium, high fiber". Guess what - one serving has 16 grams of sugar! In the trash it went. I can't wait to see how all of you do and I want to lose weight right along with you on the show. Good luck - I'm pulling for you!
I know, right?! I think Jackie was in Jeana's house when she pulled out the yogurt and was like, "This isn't actually good for you!" Dude, I think I just stared at the TV in total shock for several seconds. I had no idea how many "good" things were so bad (I mean, YOGURT?!).
I'm totally grab and go, too, but I'm definitely gonna try to cut out some weight. I've been carrying an extra 30pounds for 3 years now and that number is starting to steadily increase, but this show is really inspiring me to do something about it. Hang in there, I'm rooting for you!
PCOS is a pain, Jackie's plan is very PCOS friendly. I know better than anyone how incredibly frustrating it is to have this disorder but hang in there. The key is the moment you feel like stoping you HAVE to keep going. I didn't do that before, and I'm doing it now- it's made all the difference :)
Thanks for watching the show! Hang in there!!
yes yogurt and milk are the devil! I had no idea that skim milk had 14 grams of sugar per serving! I was having at least 2 glasses a day plus my sugar free lattes. the first 10 days are hell, but then you get over it- I promise. I just told all of my friends that I might be awful for a few days, but they were there to cheer me on :)
keep up the good work guys!!
Ok, so yogurt is bad - I had a feeling, even Greek style tastes sweet to me lately. Questions: is Milk really off-limits? I've been told "sweet 16", nothing more than 16g of sugar (& easy to remember) So Jackie said everything with sugar over 9g is out, okay but 1) what about 100% OJ, its got around 32g of natural sugar; how about Raisins 24g - are these really off-limits? 2) If a product has more than 5g of Fiber, can it have more sugar than 9g, why not? One more thing, she doesn't want us eating yogurt but then there's an ad for yogurt on this website? (I hope its removed - Promote what we should eat please, don't be hypocrites!!). Toss out those "enriched" bread/pasta products too, instead choose one's with whole grains & 5g or more of Fiber (i've found I eat a lot less).
Okay, so I read about the Yoplait Fiber One. It has less sugar but it has other really bad stuff in it, like: asparmine and Red #40. We should stick to the cottage cheese & add ourown berries (thank goodness cottage cheese is okay). Best wishes in health, Lisa. I look forward to the next show.
