Dear Gretta, Can you suggest chic walking shoes to wear to and from work that won't let my trousers, which are hemmed for pumps, drag on the ground? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks so much, Susan
You are not alone; I am often faced with that very same challenge. The desire to have most of my favorite trousers altered to be worn with my 100-millimeter pumps, and not succumb to a traditional, orthopedic looking walking shoe when in transit! Shoe designer Taryn Rose (a former orthopedic surgeon) makes a great looking wedge that is both fashionable and functional. -Gretta
My question is about pantyhose. Tim says skirts should fall just below the knee. I have very pale freckled skin and I don't like to go bare legged in the winter (I'm 45). What are the guidelines for wearing hose, specifically color? Thanks! -Sherri
It's best to keep the legs covered in the cooler months regardless of skin tone or age. I'm sure you have seen many versions of printed and colorful "hose" in the fashion magazines since they are all the rage this season!! Interesting textured and colorful tights really stand out best with a classic pump or boot. Try matching a neutral or black shoe to your skirt or dress hemline, and pick an accent color for your leg wear that with coordinate with your top or jacket!
