How do I keep my sweaters from pulling? I heard a rumor that you put them in the freezer? This can't be right...Thanks Gretta! Monica

Hi Monica,
You have definitely piqued my interest, since I haven't heard that remedy for eliminating pulls in sweaters just yet... My greatest victory for fixing a pull has been with a very small crochet hook! Turn the sweater inside out, and from the backside of the snag, use your small crochet hook to pull the misplaced thread back to the intended place.

What is in for nail polish right now? Dark colors? Clear? The trends change so fast I can't keep up. Lori

Hi Lori,
Nail polish can be the perfect way to finish off your look, and the palette ifs often dictated by the time of year. By keeping a sheer pink, red, clear and dark metallic in your cabinet you are sure to always be on trend! Lately, I've been wearing mostly dark metallics since they are a great transition from fall to winter. Have some fun with colors like, "Lincoln Park after Dark" OPI and "It's Genius" by Essie!

Do you do all of the tailoring we see on the show yourself? Alex

Hello Alex,
Due to the demands of the shooting schedule, I am so lucky to have my friend, Tayna Seeman by my side, to tie up all the loose ends! I immediately get a vision of how the garment should appear, but always consult her before jumping into anything... She is a costume designer extraordinaire, and has been a delight to work with!

Hello Gretta.

I love the show and always find the help you offer so useful. I especially love how you always boost the confidence of those you help. I have an hourglass shape, and am rather busty. I find it hard to shop for tops that both fit well across the bust, and also show off my smaller waist. I usually end up sacrificing one or the other. I love my bust and waist and want to show the hourglass shape off, but am unsure which tops I should wear that will both fit well across the larger portion of my upper body and hug well at the waist. I also have this problem with dresses as well, where if i fit them properly to my bust, they drown me everywhere else. Please help me out.

Dear Gretta,

Do you have any advice for me? I'm 58 years old and work in television (behind the scenes). I want to dress with some sense of fun but don't want to appear to be trying to be younger than I am. I prefer clean lined classics but want to be able to add some punch and whimsy to that black pant and beautiful white shirt.

Thanks Roberta

Hi Gretta... This is probably a question you don't often get - but I really hope you can help me. I am a transgender woman. I am fortunate to be fairly small naturally (size 4-6 pants/8-10 tops)...but prior to transitioning, I did a lot of weightlifting during the years of denial. As a result, my arms are a little bigger and more muscular than for most women. (They're not "bodybuilder huge"...just shaped differently, if that makes sense?) I normally try to hide them, but sleeves on most any shirt/top/dress I buy are very tight. And, I have a fear - whether rational or not - of wearing sleeveless tops or dresses. Is there a "good" way to deal with this?

Thank you so much for your help!! Dianne

Hello Gretta,

My wife and I watch your show as often as we can. Many times we have heard that there are basics that every woman should have. That way she can be presentable and look stylish in all situations.

After watching your show many times I have to wonder and thus ask a question. What are the basics every man should have? To me it seems unfair and obnoxious that a man wants his wife to dress presentable and then stands beside her looking like a slob. Please, please let us know what are the basics that the men should have so that our wives are not embarassed or ashamed when we stand beside them in public.

Signed: a repentant slob Gordon

P.S. Please email when you reply to my question. Thank you.

Hi, Gretta,

I enjoy watching you on the many tv show's you have appeared but I so enjoy the Tim Gunn Guide to Style. I noticed a comment Tim made about hosiery. He seemed to indicate that hosiery should not be required at work. He did not expand on what he meant. What is your take on the hosiery fashion sense? I tend to believe hosiery should be worn for business casual, semi formal and formal occasions. I guess I am old school but looking at many ladies without hosiery with nice clothes and shoes does not look good or fashionable to me. What is the latest fashion about hosiery?

Hi Gretta,

I'm a 25 year old Asian girl. I love watching your show and seeing how you and Tim are able to transform people and make them feel their best.

I know that this is a long shot since I'm not from the States, but I would love to have you guys make me over. I don't think I look terrible (as most of the people in your show), but it would be great to feel pretty and special for a change. I do love clothes but I don't spend much for myself. In the end, I buy pieces which I think are classic and I can wear for a long time. Please help! :)

Hi Gretta! I'm Sheila Fe Divina Umali from the Philippines, a mother to a 2 yr. old boy and I am 25 years old. I really like watching your show. I learned a lot watching about it. I wanted to have fashion style but i am shy and not confident on what I am wearing. Maybe it's because I don't have enough budget on shopping. Can you give me some tips on what do I need to be confident on what I am wearing and on what kind of clothes that matches me. Thank you so much and more power to your show. Best regards to Tim.

Hi there!

Love your show! If you haven't already, could you put together a list of basics for a stay-at-home-mom. The list of basics you provide seems to be tailored for a working professional. I spend a lot of my days at the park, or at home caring for my child and home. I want to look good, but need a wardrobe that is comfortable and can handle a lot of washing!

Thank you!

Is there a website we can go to to plug in ourbody measurements to see exactly what our body looks like? Like the one Tim uses on the show?

Hi Gretta!

I love the amazing boost of confidence and increased look cohesiveness that you and Tim are able to help women develop. I really wish I could develop that in my own life and wardrobe. I generally have to buy a petite top and long (33-34" inseam) jeans (so I have a schizophrenic figure!)and I am apple-ish (slimmer hips, a bit of belly), 5'7" and size 10-12. Also I have a life that either sees me at home in sweats or out at more professional dinner functions with my husband (who is a physician). I just turned thrirty and would love some tips on how to feel more confident in my figure and my wardrobe so that I don't feel so out of my element and uncomfortable with my body when I'm among people who are used to dressing in a professional manner.
