Editor's Note: Gail is traveling and was unable to contribute a blog post this week, but wants everyone to know that she absolutely ADORES chocolate, in all forms!
I have been watching all the seasons on ITUNES, yes I have my favorites, but surprisingly, i had only 1 dislike and i am just not up to the finale and that is Orlando in season 2. He has not won any quick fires, and constantly puts down other contestants regarding their skill sets. Based on his attitude and how he dishes on others, i prayed he would be sent home by the 4th episode. How much ego can a chef have anyway, he needs a big helping of humble pie. Really like Sarah on this season, sweet as her deserts and heart of gold to match, she has my vote based upon her cooking and her friendliness towards everyone and remaining true to herself through-out the competition. Carlos has the skill and the pizazz but can he stop using liquid nitrogen for his desserts and show something else, oops sorry Orlando already said that. Katsy was young and talented, wish she could have heard Orlando's comments before she was sent packing, she may just have turned it around and won. The showpieces this season were disappointing overall, by far the best was the Fairytale episode but the rest of them were just "eh ok", not really showstoppers and when you have a showpiece, it needs to stand out even if it is a dessert. And on to Johnny Iuzzini, starting off this season really didn't like his "holier than thou attitude" towards the chefs, but then he kinda grew on me as the seasons progressed and he settled into his role, he is starting to give more constructive criticism rather than outright saying it sucked (although could just be the editing).Craig was sorry to see him go, he did win a quickfire unlike some other people already mentioned, and i think that the stress of the show just beat him not his skill level because desserts can be even if simple and plain, but they need to be good and he tried.
After watching the last episode, I think Orlando should have been eliminated. Carlos and Sally made his dessert and passed it off as Orlando's. That is like plagiarism because it was not Orlando's work/creation.
The message that this show is sending, is that, it is okay for someone to have another person do his/her work and pass it off as their own.
i agree with last commentor. orlando didnt even make a dessert, he was to busy with the showpiece. the one thing that i was mad about yes johnny picked carlos, sally and orlando show piece to win but they could of made bad desserts. they should of commented on their desserts too. not just katzes, chris and matts. it sucks that katze left she showed alot.
Not digging the Just Desserts this season....you now have to change the name to...'Just Showpieces'! I watch all Bravo cook shows, ie., Top Chef to watch the amazing chefs 'cook'! Not build towers of chocolate. It just hasn't measured up to the other shows. Could be the demise for this viewer.
I'm wondering why Gail was so brusque when she dismissed Katze. No "please", just "Pack your things and go".
I am shocked and dismayed the judges let Carlos go! So what his desert didn't come together perfectly in the end, it was an amazing idea. Why don't you give credit for his overall successes as well, which are many? He is clearly the most talented chef on the show. Send Orlando home already, please! I mean how can you say his desert even came close to a candy apple? I'm so over him and his chocolate!
