Katzie pulled out the win with her amazing carrot cake patch and beehive. She deserved this win -- I thought her ideas were new and very clever. And, well, i love carrot cake!
Before I go for this week, I promised a pic of my friend's Ron Ben-Israel original wedding cake. Here it is!
It was a Brown Butter Cake with Hazelnut Praline Crunch and Cinnamon Cream Cheese Filling. It was ridiculously delicious. I always make a point to try the cake of whatever wedding I'm attending, but I made a special point to sit down and really taste this one. It was exceptional.
Anyone else have any fabulous wedding cakes lately? And, tell me if you cried during this episode, so I don't feel like a crazy person!
Until next week, Have a Nosh!
You are not crazy! I cried! This episode brought back so many great memories being a kid and eating candy:-) So far the best episode of TCJD.
Craig was in over his head but I still didn't like seeing him go home. He is a nice guy. There are a few others on the show that have egos that are not attractive at all and I will dance a happy dance once they are sent packing.
Yes, my eyes were found to have tears in them too. You aren't alone.
I liked Craig, but he was out of his league. What a great challenge. It may need to become a regular challenge on this show.
Orlando's comment about "This lady next to me couldn't believe that I knew the words to the film" No, Orlando, she was probably just polite to say how rude you were to TALK IN THE MIDDLE OF A MOVIE THEATER while other people are trying to enjoy something. Orlando truly is a classic villain through and through. Nothing is worse than having a movie spoiled by someone trying to impress people by saying film dialogue right before the characters do! Orlando seems to forget the number rule of Top Chef (Dessert or otherwise)- the biggest jerk doesn't win. They usually come in second (Tiffany, Marcel, Stefan, what-his-name from Desserts Season 1).
Why has no one commented about how awful the execution of Chris's chocolate drizzle (not waterfall) turned out. It would have been completely different if you were encouraged to grab a piece of chocolate rock candy from the cliff face, but it was NOT a waterfall. I agree with Hubert Keller that a lake would have been more effective, and a better use of ingredients. He should have been taken to task for WASTING hundreds of pounds of chocolate that were eseentially nothing but decoration.
I think the girl who did the Oompa Loompa "dirt" should have gone. That was horrible. I was SO glad they didn't punish that girl for helping out the whole team. I would have been really pissed. In challenges like that, you NEED someone to be in charge of the whole picture and get all the last minute things to come together. Either that, or ~ HEY! Here's an idea ~ Give them enough time to get it done in the first place. That was a very big undertaking, and I don't even know how they got it done. I think the girl who won is awesome, I like her. I think she's gonna end up winning the whole thing, she has very cute ideas. The carrot cakes were so cool! Unfortunately, she might be in trouble next week.
I must say that the Elvis judge really has tamed himself down and he is becoming likable.
CRAIG NEEDED TO GO HOME WEEKS AGO , he was nothing but empty baggage everyone had to carry him throughout every elimination challenge. He did not have an original thought. Love Love Loved Sally calling him out on Grandma's cake recipe. Was he out of his league? Heck hee couldn't get close to the field why in the world did he get chosen over thousands who were better? Waste of space. These shows are getting irritating to watch simply because of the lack of experience in contestants. Yet producers would rather have them around longer than someone better who made a minor error, not salted to Judges taste or something as stupid. Come on pay attention to you audience we get disgusted every week that we have to watch blatant stupidity.
