In preparation for the release of his new album Views from the 6 on April 29, Drake spent time in his hometown of Toronto and took his mom, Sandi, out to dinner. Where did they go for their night out? To Fring's, the latest Toronto restaurant from former Top Chef Masters cheftestant Susur Lee. The April 25 date was particularly special, since Susur's longtime pal, Bobby Flay, was hosting his own tasting menu there.
Drake, his mama and other guests dined on delicious dishes by both Flay and Lee, which the chefs described in detail to Toronto Life: "My first course is thinly layered slices of roasted eggplant, with manchego cheese, oregano and a balsamic reduction," said Flay. "I’m also making a chorizo crepinette with apricot mostardo and pickled fennel. I brought some octopus with me and I’ll be serving that with bacon, orange and shishito pepper," he said.
Meanwhile, Susur doesn't sound like he was resting on his laurels for his part of the menu, adding: "I’m making Szechuan mala king prawns with a salsa verde, calamansi lime and wild leeks. Also, a bacon-wrapped striploin with wasabi apple purée. For dessert I’m serving a mango panna cotta with spiced black rice and coconut." And judging by these photos, Drizzy definitely enjoyed what he ate. Check out that smile on his face.
By the way, rumor has it that Drake is a part-owner of Fring's. But Susur has remained mum on the star's actual role at the establishment. "There's a lot support around that, let's put it that way," he said. Guess we can read between the lines there.
