Bravotv.com: OK, cook the meal of your life: What was the inspiration behind each dish?
Talk about pressure! I'm not sure any chef alive can cook the "meal of his/her life" in such a short amount of time, but I tried my best. I was inspired by the ingredients. I cooked a meal that I would want to eat. It was a combination of ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavor profiles that I love. It was the first time all season I felt like I was really cooking my own food. I was very happy with each dish.

Bravotv.com: Did you know before you came what you would cook?
No way! I learned from watching the show that you NEVER get to do exactly what you want.  Of course I have some signature dishes I was hoping to present, but I never had my heart [set] on any particular one. My mind was clear until I saw what food was there and how much time we had.

Bravotv.com: Of course there was a twist (there always is), but did you think Stefan would have cooked the alligator so well?
I am not surprised at all that he rose to the challenge. Stefan is an amazing chef and we both know the only real advantage I have on him — my looks! That's for you buddy! Seriously, I respect him a lot. I know it looks like we can't stand each other, but I consider him a good friend and I look forward to hanging out with him soon. As long as we don't have to compete against each other, we will never have harsh words again.

Bravotv.com: Were you happy you got Richard to help you? How much influence did he have on the meal?
Richard was amazing. He is the real deal, one of the best chefs this show (or any) have seen.  Richard never tried to make the food his own, he just supported my vision. He had some useful advise when it came to plating and service, and I wouldn't have been able to do so many things if he hadn't been there.  His speed, professionalism, and his humility were exactly what I needed. THANK YOU RICHARD!

I am disgusted with the result. The producers must rename the shoo to: "Top Meal". And there is no need for 14 episodes. They should only make one episode and name top chef who ever wins it. STEFAN IS THE TOP CHEF

This comment is directed to Pat from 4/16 and anyone else that says they would never go eat in Hosea' restaurant- You all are stupid and have know business blogging nor going out to eat for that matter especially the clown that said he might be employee of the month at McDonalds!!! I am pretty sure none of you ever worked in a restaurant let alone a kitchen, and if you really watched he seemed to always be the top 3-4 in everything consistently, and if you can make a Gumbo that impresses Emeril you must be doing something right!!
Also his restaurant in Boulder is very popular and very good - so until any of you wanna be Home Chefs want to break down a Monkfish or even a Sardine or ever make it to Colorado just zip it, by the way I love Carla and her passion but the girl just can't close

I love Top Chef and have been downloading the Series as they become available. Season 4 was terrific. The chefs had no help the last day because the judges wanted them to make sure they "lived or died by their own hand". I just downloaded Season 5 and I find it so difficult to watch. The only elimination challenge Hosea won was when all cheftestants helped him after his meat went bad.
Watching "Down on the Farm" again was painful. It was so clear that Hosea and Leah were letting Arianne hang herself. In the Episode called "The Last Supper", Susan Ungaro did like the meal Hosea made especially for her, but she did say it was not her idea of Shrimp Scampi.
When I watched the Finale on TV, the minute Hosea was chosen as Top Chef my first thought was that he won because he had Richard Blais helping him. I still think so. I just would not go into a restaurant owned by Hosea. He never proved that he could cook amazing food on his own.

Hosea though I liked him personally did not deserve to be top chef for one simple reason:
When he presented his dish to the most dignified of judges Jacques Pepin, Wylie Dufresne, Marcus Samuelsson and Lidia Bastianich for a “Last Supper”–themed episode. “ He said "I'm not trying to kiss your butts,... etc" My goD If a waitress/waiter had said that to me in a nice restaurant ( excluding maybe a thruway fast food joint, where there was no other food possible)I would have demanded my money back and insisted a free meal as a GOOD restaurant. He was serving renowned chefs and mature respectable professionals.
Leave the potty mouth in the kitchen Hosea!!!!

Congrats Hosea!!! I'm glad you whooped that arrogant euoro's rear-end! HAHA! This season was just as great as all the previous and cannot wait for the next one to begin. Top Chef is one of the best shows on TV and continues to amaze me. The only thing that really made me angry this season was the ending/winner announcement....they didn't have the champagne party w/the families there! :-( I really wish they included it as they have in the past. I did enjoy the few episodes which were extended 15 minutes longer. :-) Once again...GREAT SEASON...GREAT JOB HOSEA!!! TOP CHEF RULES!!!

I was very disappointed that Hosea won, I just felt with his overall performance during the show he clearly was not the best chef. I understand now though that it is the meal you make during each challenge that is the factor and nothing before makes a difference. Its a shame because with his continually rubbing sweat off his head with his hands was really bothersome for me as he repeatedly demonstrated bad kitchen habits.

I think this was the best season so far...everyone for the most part seemed like normal people who actually tried to help each other out within reason.I think that was the problem if any they all got along well so they tried to create controversy/drama for tv...Otherwise show was good, didn't expect hosea to win but we aren't tasting the food so hard to say.

Well, I just read some of the comments. Wow! A little bit on the passionate side! Some true foodies out there! I can understand all of the comments, ie. changing the rules, moving Padma out, feeling Hosea was not the real winner. Well, the reason we watch Top Chef is to see what happens next. Every year we can count on it not going our way. That said, in that way it is always a surprise to see who comes out ON TOP! I like the idea of points awarded for winning and adding them up, etc. But that show is on the FOOD network and its great but this is more of a survivor strategy type format.
I liked what Hosea said about the cutting of 90% and showing the 10%. Well, this is how I have seen all reality shows work. For example I think the gal from New Jersey was good. She was winning consistently, it only takes the one time. and you're out, just like real life. I see it happen all of the time. Again, It's life, baby! Congrats once again to Hosea, Stephan, Carla and Fabio for making it to the end. You were all great! I hope we see all of you again on Bravo and at your restaurants! Foodie bloggers: See ya all next season!

I have nothing against Hosea winning. Congrats...but I just am curious on how the chefs are judged. When they told Ariane (sp)? she had to leave, I was curious to know what it's based on. She said she didn't know how to carve the lamb..hosea said he did. Why didn't hosea take it over and give her something else to do. Yet the judges don't look at it that way. She tried and it didn't work. But at least she tried. But Hosea was kept. Shouldn't he have been the one to go, since he knew how to carve. I still think he should have given her some other duty.

I have watched every season since Top Chef aired and I must agree that this season's of chefs were definately lacking creativity, imagination and just plain ordinary dishes. I believe every chef this season had at least one good dish but nothing that would have givin them the title of Top Chef. The best episode was the creole/cajun cooking which is something that I love to cook and know something about and those chefs rocked.

Emeril Lagasse as your guest judge was the most gracious of all your guest judges. I felt he made every chef still competing a winner and encouraged and complimented each and everyone of them. I hope to see more of Emeril in future episodes.

Congrats Hosea on your win!! Your final meals were the best of the 3 contenders but I also felt that if Carla had cooked her way instead of opting for Casey's suggestions the title of Top Chef would have gone to her. Stephan your final challange meals were the worst that I had seen you cook of this season of Top Chef.

I look forward to next season, but I do hope that you have a better crew of chefs that can make your food challanges really rock.......

It's OVER. people.. Why is everyone so mean to Hosea? Complain to the network/judges.. He won.. that's it. You are not going to change the outcome. You are just being mean to a guy who competed, did his best, and won the $$$. The others won as well. Carla won the car/Superbowl tickets and hearts of all, Stefan won the chance to work with and travel with Chef Ripert, and Fabio won the $$ Fan Favorite money.. They ALL , all former chefs from episode one on...won fame/fortune and notoriety for their future endeavors in the restaurant business. Be happy for them. Look forward to next season. The challenges/venues/guest judges got better each episode this season, when it started out as rather boring, so, lets' see what happens next season? If you all complain/threaten not to watch, this show ill go the way of "Project Runway".. They'll take it off or to another network and leave Bravo fans to watch the rest of the awful reality shows, like "Millionaire" or the Modeling/Hair shows, etc.

Hosea deserved to win and I personally adore him. I would be so disappointed if he focused on a relationship with Leah. I'm sure she is a nice gal, but she is just a flirt and she would play him into a fool. The sky is the limit Hosea and focus on your life and good things will follow. Good luck to your family.

While I'm disappointed that Hosea won (sorry guy, it must really blow to read all this) - the other's did make some signifigant mistakes.

I personally thought Jamie was the best (Jamie, why did you insult the quest judge Why? Why!?! WHY?) after her I liked Carla; but if you're a "Top Chef" you don't let yourself get pushed around by someone who is not as good as you are. You don't let yourself get pushed around, period.

I think Carla is extremely adept at holding her own in a peaceful and firm way. But she didn't do that. Letting someone else take the lead on her potential win was her fault alone and I think she knows that.

Carla, good luck! You're a wonderful, lovely person!

This e-mail is for Hosea, in the hopes that you folks have a forwarding e-mail address for him.
Having just lost a sister-in-law to cancer, I know how tough and frightening it is to experience someone you love go through this terrible disease. I was passed this e-mail to a video channel about 6 months too late. I leave your opinion up to you, but, think it important to some in particular. I was very shocked and surprised upon completion of the video and do not know what type of cancer your father has,but know, he has my prayers. Cheryl

I loved this season. We tried two of Jamie's recipes and one that Fabio demonstrated on the Ellen Degeneres show this week. It was terrific. Next food item to try is to make Carla's pastry.

Of all of the contestants, I thought Hosea delivered most consistantly under the constraints of Reality TV.

I would eat in any of the remaining eight contestants restaurants anytime just to see what they are really about. Carla has a great attitude and I wish her all the best. Stephan seems like a talented, innovative chef but his verbal output works against him.

Rules are rules. Hosea won. As much as I hate to say it. His meal was the best of...? Freezing fish?! Really?! I lived in Boulder for eighteen years, Jax is mediocre at best. How Query got these two chefs on the show I just don't know. Jax wouldn't not exist in any other part of the country. Since T.C. started, it has always been about mediocrity.

To put it blunt Hosea is exactly the first two letters in his name!! He is a true hater also. Stefan was on top and clearly the best. Carla and that guy from Florida were also clearly better, I met even say Jamie and Fabio wer better as well. But what did Hosea do, continuously hate hate hate on the better chefs, especially Stefan. Dude stop being a hater. And judges stop being predigous, especially TOM!!!! Dude get over your weak ass flavor profile and American only or Americanized dishes. You are constantly hating on other forms of food and didn't vote for Stephan because he is European. Also isn't cooking all parts, including a dessert part of the meal. I think so!! STEFAN WINNER!!

To be honest one of my biggest problems with this season was Hosea. My concern is that Hosea you seem like a good guy and honestly an awesome chef I'm sure. However, the show is called "TOP CHEF" and you were not it. Obviously if you look at the body of work, overall technique, talent and variety of skill it is obvious you were probably top 5 or 6 but definitely not better than Stefan and a few other chefs. Throughout the show there were obvious mistakes he made that were only overshadowed by greater mistakes from other chefs. He never won any earlier competitions or really stood out very often. Hosea didn't win it Stefan lost it. I think their may have been a little home cooking since the show is American they didn't want a foreign CHEF to win. Unfortunate!!!

Oh my, so many mean comments. I do believe the producers want drama, but in reality, we are not there to taste the meals the contestants make. The judges are the ones who have the final word; and I don’t think they will stick around if there professionalism were not taking into account. I give a big applause to Hosea because he did win some quick fire challenges, worked hard, never doubted his talent and pictured himself as a winner, always! Even Fabio gave him credit on the finale, come on people, its clear Hosea won this clean… But, I still love Jeff…

So lets think about this a minute. Hosea is given, as his last challege, a cake with a baby in it. However, just in case he is stupid enough to not figure out the fix, they put two fish dishes in the choice so that if Carla gets the baby then She will pick a fish dish then probably pick a fish for Hosea since she seems to be ok with him.

So Stefan gets a freakin Crockadile to cook as his last dish while the cheating goofy boy gets to pick what he cooks everyday.

Keep up boys and girls. So unexpectedly (I am being sarcastic), Stephan cooks a great Crock and the judges like. After all that and his great performance on the show, they ax him because he made a desert.

WTF? I am done with this show. I was done last year and only tuned into the finale to see if any shred of honesty and objectivity had made its way into the decision making.

TOP CHEF, eat my rump roast! ;-(

I so wanted Carla to win!!! Carla, you clearly like to be in a groove with people and the world, I took from your comment at the end of last episode re: being nice. But girl, ain't nothin' wrong with standing your ground and holdin' fast to what you do best because you know you are good and you know what you are best at. I have watched every season of top Chief, it's the only show my fiancé and I really love and can watch together. Although it IS a reality show, it always felt more based on talent and merit, not to mention the judges and guest judges actually know what they are talking about and have the chops to give criticism...but this season, for shame! You have taken a lovely, grueling, suspenseful talent based competitive show and turned it into lame dramatic reality T.V.

I would say move the show to FOX but Hell's Kitchen is already there, so since you have stooped to that level you might as well quit now.

Hosea is a hack a best...a seafood chief who can't cook seafood (or anything else for that matter without cheating - in and OUT of the kitchen!) he was SO lucky to have Richard! And he should be punched in the face for his extremely insensitive "well at least I cooked my own food" comment in the stew room after Carla's heartbreaking realization of how & why she lost...p.s. if your brought back after losing to be a sous chief, keep your trap shut, you had a chance to cook your food and it didn't work out to well, so let them cook theirs!

The best parts of the season were the AMAZING guest chiefs! That was very cool. But you blew it with everything else. Fabio, Carla you guys rocked, and Stephan yea you’re a cocky bastard - but what good chief isn't or haven’t been at some point?!

I think that Casey was no help to Carla and should have kept her big mouth shut. Was she put up to screwing with Carla by the producers? If you read in the fine print it says that the decisions at judges table are made by the judges as well as the producers or some such nonsense. You cannot blame it all on the judges, they don't have final say. As far as Stefan is concerned, he is a nutball, I certainly would never work with/for him with his crazy frame of mind. How could you expect anybody to? He's crazy, egotistical and no where near a team player. How would you expect to get anything done in a commercial kitchen like that? With a dictator! Carla is my Top Chef. I love having Padma as Host and Tom is a great chef and judge. Ya'll need to relax.

I suggest a rule change, a new premise for Top Chef. Score the points, cumulatively. The higher scores stay. How hard is that to do? It might more accurately reflect the talent of the chefs, rather than "who had a bad day."

The show definitely is losing credibility, not because of the contestants, but solely due to head chef Tom. A few thing that annoys me of the double standard of this show:

1) which is worse, putting an incomplete dish since one of the components was not good (e.g. Karla's soufle) or knowingly putting up a component that is bad and getting axed for that (e.g. Jamie with the salted celery). The judges goes back and forth on this issue and they take out contestants based on who they want to take out at that stage. If Jamie was kicked out then Stefan should have not been in the final 3 since he should have been out in the previous round with an overcooked salmon!

2) overall performance versus bad performance on one episode. This is also very inconsistent and used at the judge's mood that day with a particular contestant. Finals overall Josea cooked the best meal and he should be the winner if you consider that episode's meal BUT Stefan and maybe even Karla could have been considered if she put up a better dish for overall performance throughout the show.

3) it also seems that towards the later part of the contest people who can bring more drama to the show are kept longer (e.g. Leah in this season). People who can't bring too much drama are let go (e.g. Jamie in this season, forget her name BUT the lady who cooked the soulful grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup from 2 seasons past)

I feel Tom makes up his mind way at the start for a particular chef and unless he really blows it badly somehow keeps on having him back. This season it was Stefan. He was ready to forgive him for bigger mistakes than some of the other ones. He did the same to Hung(?) from the last season. Tom, for my taste, is too stuck up of a person and does not really show much open mindedness towards the entire judging and should be gone if this show wants to shine next season!

Has anyone noticed that the chefs have gotten consistently
more mediocre as the seasons progressed .I think reality Tv ratings , Editing and "executive producers decisions" have got in the way of true talent and adaptability.I cant believe these chefs own their own restaurants and/or hold executive chef positions. They lack training and true hardcore skills.Stephan was the best from the footage that we saw. Josea is no top chef. I cannot believe that he won based on that meal,I have seen better meals come from a first year culinary student . Maybe they should call it top meal. Please , Please get some real talent for the next season, or call it The best amateur lucky cook show

Prediction: when Hosea opens his new restaurant, it will be named "F.U. Stefan". The menu will consist entirely of fish and game courses; there will be no dessert menu...Stefan's new Euro-themed restaurant will be called "I Deserve This"; it will be located across the street from Hosea's place, so that the 2 former cheftestants can exchange insults all day long...both restaurants will be close by Casey's place, "The Kiss of Death"...Carla's new restaurant will be named "To Serve, With Love"; the doors will open late, customers will have to wait forever for their food, the sous-chefs and waiters will be completely undisciplined, and the Head Chef will have an occasional meltdown, but the food will be very good and soulful...

I was rooting for Carla toward the end but knew it was possible for any of the three to pull it out. I think all the people who are complaining about Steffan not winning are only interested in teh technique aspect of the competition, but it's a lot more inclusive than that, and being a great chef is a lot more than just knife skills or gastronomy expertice. In a restaurant, there is a lot of pressure and real people at the end of the meal paying a real check. A chef's team lives or dies based on chemistry in the kitchen, as well as leadership ability from the head chef. he/she must have a clear vision and be able to get people to see his or her vision and be excited about it. Respect is also key. In the finale, along with maing the best food in general, Steffan and Marcel didn't appear to have much rapport and Steffan seemed to blow off his normal expertice with desserts. It looked like a dish from Appleby's. The fish dish appeared watery even to me. I don't care that it was frozen ahead, but it has to feel right in your mouth, and was the main concern for the judges. Poor Carlamade the only real mistake that she had earlier in the show...letting others influence her too much. Not how a head chef should be, but I bet this show taught her a lot about that. I hope Casey doesn't feel too bad, but I can't believe she even suggested that Carla do somethig outside of the style that got her there. In the end, tho, Carla had the right to say "no" and she didn't. It's all about working under pressure in the end, and Hosea is the only one that utilised his sous properly and focused on what he needed to do. This was clearly the objective in the show, and means there's little to complain about concerning th eresult. Remember, so many chef's from this show will get due attention and hopefully profit from their time here. It was still well worth Carla's and Steffan's, as well as many others' time to be on this show. I'm happy for all of them. This was a fine cast and in total, even with the stuff they showed, including Steffan, I was happy to see such great sportsmanship overall. Way to go.

The GRAN FINAL of Top Chef was what I was expecting: a super meal, with greats sous chefs and the very rare ingredients from the location. But as I read all the comments, I only see people crying because Stephan didn't won.
Im from Puerto Rico and maybe for you people, see a person from and island that you maybe don't know where is at, will think I don't know about USA. Hosea won because he showed what the judges wanted to see, the meal of his live. A perfectly cooked meal with well choosen ingredients that crushed Sthephan meal and overall, its "children" dessert.
You say that Stephan win a lot of elimination challenges and quickfires, yeah its OK. You don't remember the SUPER BOWL of 2008 where the all season invicts New England Patriots lost againts a New York Giants driven by a kid with no experience named Eli Manning. Stop crying already and accept that Hosea won!!!!

Hosea congratulations, you deserve to be the TOP CHEF!!!

To the Judges:

this is the first time in a while that I felt that you made the wrong decision. Ever since Sam from season 2, I felt that your deliberation methods are a little off. As far as Hosea being a Top Chef, it is a slap on the face, especially to me, being a young up and coming chef. On a final note, I ask the producers and creators to try to atone all this by creating a small competition, bringing back all of the Top Chefs, and finding out once and for all, who is the greatest Top Chef of all time.

In my opinion, from worst to first;
5. Ilan
4. Hosea
3. Hung
2. Stephanie
1. Harold

I was actually upset after the finale. I've never been upset like that. Hosea was mediocre at best, during the whole show. How is that Top Chef? Really? I mean really? And the suggestion he had soul? Really? He came on TV to publicly cheat on his poor girlfriend, soul? really? So upset.

Super disappointing, I guess you can win Top Chef with "consistently" mediocre talent.

The Top Chef award aside, I would like to give an award to THE CLASSIEST CHEF -- Carla. In all the seasons of Top Chef, there has NEVER been a chef who handled his/herself so well under such stressful conditions. She NEVER put anyone down, and NEVER made mean or snide remarks about her competitors, or the dishes they prepared. She showed grace and charm. She's a true lady, and I applaud her. I realize this is a "cooking" competition, but it was certainly refreshing this season to have a chef that wasn't all about being negative toward the others; where interviews weren't filled with put-downs, rude remarks, and profanity. She proved that you can be a good chef AND be a good sport.

Top Chef is about the finale not a culmination of the season so get over the fact that Stefan did not win. Sure I think Stefan is a better chef, I also think Fabio is too but the final meal went to Hosea. Read Tom's blog and understand the rules before you all cry fix or revenge.

Really TC is now just another crappy reality...Stephan cooked crappy fish and gets to the final..really..they get rid of fabio..no way..really..what is the deal with the deserts..who cares ..maybe they should have top pastry chef to make all the judges happy...it has just gotten away from food and more about attitudes. I know it has to have drama to keep people interested but really, why have it in nyc and not use it as a great backdrop for the show...it was sad..i think they should use the great chefs more often ...that was the best episode of the season..

03/03/2009 - 1:25pm
Stefan should of won!!!

Stefan was clearly the more talented chef throughout the entire season. He won 8 Challenges, while Hosea picked up maybe 1 win. Not happy with the final decision to crown Hosea, but Tom had some personal avengence against Stefan and thats what it boils down too...this show is not who has the best attitude, its who is the BEST COOK!!!!

Dear Hosea,

For every crybaby Stefan fan, please enjoy your win THAT much more knowing that not only did you beat down Stefan you also beat down his ridiculous fans.

Savor the fact that even the judges were left with a bad taste in their mouth after getting a taste of Stefan's attitude.

Stefan doesn't have the BALLS to be a friendly rival but resorted to crass comments in his competitiveness.

BRAVO to the judges for not rewarding Stefan's nasty behavior.

Best Wishes to you (and you owe Leah a huge apology),
Christian

Be it Hosea, Stefan or Carla, I think we can all agree on one thing. Leah needs a major hair makeover.

What *I* think is funny is all the people who feel the need to justify Hosea's win. It's reality tv - if there were no drama, nobody would be tuning in so true talent, be damned. If the win truly was deserved and Hosea really was an exceptional chef, the "who should have won Top Chef" poll wouldn't have him with such a pathetically low percentage and there'd be no reason to justify his winning or to stomp on those who are not satisfied with the show results and who are expressing as such in these comments.

Clearly, Top Chef is no different than any other elimination show, like Survivor. And we all know that the winner at the end of that show is rarely the strongest, most talented or most deserving. Just like this one.

Stefan was clearly the most talented chef, but I agree that his ego got the better of him towards the end. Also, Carla should followed her original plan and cooked with what she was familiar with. However, I am proud of her! She went so far and made some amazing dishes! I wish I could have seen Jamie and Jeff in the final round. They seemed to have a lot of potential as well. I believe Hosea deserved to win that final round, since it based on that that one dinner. If it was overall competition, Stefan. If overall personality, Carla!

isnt it funny how the comments on every seasons finale are always that the wrong person won, and that the commenter will never watch the show again.

with every seasons winner decided incorrectly, this obviously must be the fault of the judges.

it certainly cant be the way the food tastes (which the viewers will never know the taste of)

All i can say is this i think the best one won i was really hoping it was not that cocky Stefan he was too over bearing if cala didnt win am glad Hosea did i have been a loyal watcher sence day 1 every season dont miss one wtg Hosea well done

A CHEF !!!

All of you flipping crybabies out there that say you will never watch TC again- please don't because probably none of you worked in a kitchen so stay away. Everyone saying that Hosea sucked and no talent or skills seemed to do pretty well from the first episode remember the apple to breaking down fish and even an eel, what I would like to know what Chef really has a hammer and nail in their Chef bag, just to skin an eel- please NONE!!
For Emeril to say that his Gumbo was amazing must be BS and all of you thought it sucked!
Atleast he was very consistent throughout, Yes Stefan is head and shoulders a better CHEF than all the rest and more educated than the other Chefs but hehas the one thing that works against him, no one wants to be a part of his team and that just does not work in a kitchen! And by the way Jamie sucked, except with scallops!

If "ifs" and "ands" were pots and pans, there'd be a hell of a lot more cookin' goin' on. The fact is Hosea presented a better over-all meal than either Stefan or Carla. Stefan is probably a better chef. Carla can make you feel good. Hosea won based on the one meal. Period.

#2. Carla w/ her luv ; )

I think the producers can come up with a smart way to keep score for each round so that the final is not rendered meaningless -- either by not taking into account previous performances (as was the case this time), or by having the winner judged even before the final takes place (which is most people's worry with cumulative scoring). For example, how about scoring a contestant each round depending on how they perform in that round and also the round number (i.e., first round is less important, then second, and so on). This way, contestants are rewarded for how they perform overall, and also how they improve through the show (which also gives a chance for people to catch up). Using this scheme, I can see Stefan, Carla, Jeff, Jamie do much better than Hosea, Leah etc.

About 95% of the coments I have read agree with me concerning the judges not getting it correct this time with the winner of Top Chef! There should not have been a person by the name of "Hosea" in the top 3, as no way during the show did he ever excel his talents! Stefan and Carla I agree should be in the top 3 and probably Fabio!
Both Hosea and Leah should have been removed from the show for their poor choice in activities during the filming of this show. They showed their unprofessional conduct and I for one, would never hire them, to run my business!!! This was suppose to be a cooking contest show not a romance show! They not only showed no respect for the other member of their cooking-team while trying to complete as a team! I give Carla much respect for the poor placement, at times, she was forced to work with the pair!

I'm glad most of you think Stefan should have won. He was clearly the best shef. But this a TV show, and there is a lot of things, I guess, we don't know.
All of the shefs have a wonderful future thanks to their exposure on the show. I wish them all well, but my favourite is Stefan and I hope to hear about his success real soon. Good luck!

Yes sir even in Canada, we were rocked by the sore disappointment of Hosea be crowned the "Top Chef". Stefen made the show and Carla brought it grace, elegance and great food. Too bad the show lost the later this season. Hosea its true, not your title.

This was the most disappointing finale ever! Hosea should NOT have even been in the finale. Geez. Top Chef just lost me as a fan!

Top Chef at Home

What a bunch of soar losers most of you would have made! Hosea cooked the meal of his life, regardless of how many disappointing meals may have lead up to this grand finale...Stephan didn't. Tablespoons of ice-cream and a banana lollipop on a plate for "the meal of your life" dessert...come on, get real! The fact that Stephan took a beautiful piece of fresh fish and froze it to serve it, speaks volumes as a chef. I agree that he was consistently the best of the bunch throughout the season; however, this challenge (as was the previous ones) was based on this final meal. Stephan choked under pressure, just as Carla did when she relinquished control of her meal to her sous chef. She may have come up from the rear and took it all, but she choked too! Love her for being such a class act and love Stephan for being a great chef, but the Grand Finale is not the place to misstep, become too arrogant, and lose site of what the challenge is...the best meal of your life. Congratulations to Hosea for keeping cool under fire and delivering a flavor packed punch!

Hi All,
I am a huge fan of Top Chef and I very disappointed in the judging and contestants here's the break down..

Carla-I loved you and you were one of my top three people however I cannot believe you started acting like a ditsy model at the end..you could've actually won if you were to cook from your soul and kept it simple..

Stefan & Fabio- OMG Stefan I loved your arrogant ass and thought if you weren't so arrognant you wouldn't won.
Fabio, I can't believe they kicked you off when they did Hosea didn't deserve to be in the top anything..

Last and least Hosea- I am so upset with the judging and how you were still on the show I thought you should been kicked off when you made the huge mistake with the seafood, for Godsakes man You're supposed to be a Seafood Chef. In to put Icing on the cake you were such a jealous whiny bitch....Hopefully you watched yourself on tv acting like a high school kid on the show and grew from it and make something out of your career....BTW i wouldn't come to your restuarant....

Come on it is tv. What did you expect. They know who they want to win before they start. Come on how did Carla make it to the fanaly over Fabio???? I agree Stefan - Fabio - Jeff should have been the finalist.

Congrats Hosea!!!! I wish you and your family well. As for Stephan..even though you didnt win the money, you are a winner too - good luck to you and i think you are great! And Carla, WOW! what an amazing person. Good luck and congrats on winning the car. I kinda wish Hosea and Leah would be boyfriend and girlfriend...they would be cute together!!!!!!!

I was hoping and thinking that Carla would win after a strong finish in the last 1/3 of the season while at the beginning of the season I thought Stefan for sure. Carla is awesome. The girl has class. I also thought Stefan was the best chef considering the entire season's performances. I'm not upset but surprised that Hosea won. Good for him! He came through in the clutch and under great pressure. I think that Stefan's cockiness did him in. He was simply too sure of himself. This competition is just like the Superbowl. You may have a perfect season (Patriots) and lose in the big game. I say show support for Hosea who came through in the end!

Good job Hosea. May you find continued success in all that you do!

Very disappointing end! Stefan was clearly the superior chef, consistent throughout the competition and even had the best dish (squab) in the finals. The fact that he lost to Hosea who wimped out of making dessert was even more pathetic. Truth be told, Hosea should not have been in the finals. The judging overall this season was quite poor. Jeff and Jamie were knocked out too early, Leah and Arianne stayed on for too long, and Carla and Fabio, while decent chefs, got a few extra passes due to their personalities (why was Fabio a judge in the finals?!). I wish Top Chef make the following changes for next season:
- Have a cumulative scoring scheme so that contestants are rewarded for consistency (otherwise change the name of the show to Top Meal)
- Have blind taste tests throughout
- Have Bourdain and/or Bobby Flay as judges
