I was really excited about the Quickfire because I love tacos. I can tell you where, you know, every Mexican restaurant is within a mile radius of my house here in New York City. And I am a taco fiend, so I was really excited to have Rick Bayless on.
You know there's a difference between a street taco and a high-end alta cucina taco or haute cuisine taco, but they have one common denominator which is taste, and which is the crunch of the taco, and the little portion of the taco. So even a street taco has to be tangy, and spicy, and juicy, and slightly greasy, but not so greasy that you can't eat a bunch of 'em and feel sick. So, I don't think there's that much difference between a street taco and an haute cuisine taco. I would think that the difference would be in technique, in the knife skills, and maybe in some, you know, much more luxurious ingredients -- you know cause you're paying more, you're in a fine dining environment. So it was really nice to see that, and I was really surprised Manuel didn't do better on that. I really was. I fully expected him to ace it. And that was very telling, and not in a good way.
The best taco in New York is at Barrio Chino or La Esquina. They're all down in the Village, in SoHo, or in the East Village. There are tons of good taco places. I'm not going to tell you all of them because then I won't get a reservation, but those are two good places.
Padma, I watch this show every year. You are the hottest person thats on any reality show. Bravo should let you wip the housewives ladies into shape and teach them how to be a lady on tv. keep up being you.
Really enjoy the show and you were a big part for that. You present yourself as a self assured and articulate person. It is a real shame that you chose to have my opinion change once you shot that Car's Jr. Commercial. I thought there was finally someone who could control her Image and keep it intact and not fall for the sex game. Oh well now your just another female figure who sold out her integrity. Money is not everything.
Love u Padma and hope u stay on the show (and keep that beautiful wardrobe coming). I tried to find a "general comment" section to offer Bravo a suggestion and couldn't find one, so decided to put it here. It would be great to see all the runners-up compete against each other for a TC season. My husband and I have our favorite chefs who screwed up at the 11th hour and it would be fun to see how they've grown and watch them "do their thang". If you could pass this on, it would be greatly appreciated. Miss you guys, so can't wait until Aug.
Hi Padma, I wish that you would blog more often. I just read that you are expecting. I wish you good health and much happiness.I love top chef but the format has to be changed once in awhile because if they're the first ones called they are the ones with the best dishes. I really enjoy the show because I love to cook and have for many years. I like most of the dishes I make but once in awhile i make a clunker, but I know when it's not so good .I can't believe any good chef wouldn't know when his dish is not good. And Top Chef Masters was a winner.Rick Bayless is great, as a chef and as a man. I loved Michael Chiarello and Hubert Keller as well!
