You Have to Fail a Breath Test to Enter the World’s First Hangover Bar

Think massages, beds, and TV.

Usually you walk into a bar first and end up with a hangover second. But a new bar in Amsterdam is totally flipping the script.

That’s because it’s being billed as the world’s first hangover bar — and yes, it’s called The Hangover Bar. The pop-up bar is only open throughout the weekends, and visitors are literally required to have hangovers to enter: Guests are actually breathalyzed on the spot to make sure they have alcohol lingering in their systems!

The bar features an oxygen bar and massage therapy for physical replenishment, as well as a green space dotted with beds. Each bed comes with its own TV so you can binge watch to get over your hangover among friends in a social environment, just in the same way you might do at home, but in a way that’s more social and comes with less self pity. (Presumably?)

“Most people share the opinion that the day after a night out is somewhat less successful,” says Joep Verbunt, one of the masterminds behind the space, in the Daily Mail. “To overcome a hangover there are a few things you need: a good mattress, good food, fun, and lots of vitamins. In the Hangover Bar, all these elements are brought together for the first time.”

Need to soak up all the booze? There are nutrient-rich smoothies as well as a special food menu.

The bar is only open until 6 p.m. each weekend night — so you can get out there when the sun goes down and do it all over again.
