Lindsay just did too much and didn't wow the judges. At this point in the competition, even Sarah realized she needed to get out of her comfort zone. Lindsay sort of did this, albeit begrudgingly, by making a tomato ice that the judges enjoyed, but it just wasn't enough, and so Lindsay went home. And Sarah and Paul move on to next week's finale. Although this has been a long season, I started getting sad today that it's almost over and once again, I'll be going through Top Chef withdrawal.
Sooo, who's it going to be, guys?! Who's going to take it all home next week?! Let me know in the comments below, and until then, Have a Nosh!
Also, don't forget to pick up your copy of Gail's new book, Talking with My Mouth Full. You can read an exclusive excerpt HERE! Here I am with the author (!!!) Gail Simmons at her book launch party. So proud of her.
I think your comment about Sarah doing something out of her comfort zone in the last challenge was half wrong. She cooked pasta, like she has done many, many times this season. Yes, she did other techinques that were out of her comfort zone, but she still stuck with something she used all season.
I do hope you read these posts. I have said this before and I will keep saying it. There was so much blatant favoritism this year you almost knew who would make it to the finals.
I say, bring on blind judges table tasting. They could pick 2-3 top and bottom dishes and then talk to the chefs. This way personalities don't come into play early on. They would really be judging the chefs on that weeks dish. Somehow I think that would work.
OH YES, SOMETHING THAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS!! THE FINALE IS UPON US AND IT IS THE TWO PEOPLE THAT I WANTED TO BE IN IT. I HOPE PAUL COOKS LIKE HE HAS NEVER COOKED BEFORE! I REALLY DON'T WANT SARAH TO WIN BECAUSE SHE HAS BEEN SO MEAN THIS PAST SEASON. I WANT TO WISH PAUL ALL THE LUCK IN THE WORLD!! GO PAUL- PLEASE BRING IT HOME. COOK YOUR *** OFF!!!! TO THE NEXT TOP CHEF-PAUL, YOU ARE THE BEST!!
Sort of wish Sarah AND Lindsay had gone home and Beverly was brought back. She's the one I would like lessons from--she seems patient and kind and knowledgable. Anyway, that being said, I really want Paul to win. He has done well most weeks and really deserves it. I want to have his lobster based soup--I just felt sorry for the poor lobsters who gave their all for him. At least their deaths were quick and clean.
Nice blog. I just think Lindsay whould have stayed. Overall she is much stronger than Sarah. Sarah was always having vapors when weather was hot. Just not professional.
Paul on the other hand is quiet, thoughtful and ready to put egos aside. Not that he would give up a win. Paul should win because of consistancy.
Please for next season let the drama go. Demand professional behavior. This season was too much into the drama. Lets see the chefs cook.
Noshing while blogging...A little less drama would be helpful for next season. Yes, I know this is TV but let's cook more please. By the way DC has a restaurant called "Meatball".
For next season, maybe you could create challenges based off what would be a typical final exam or test in culinary school. Or revisit the best FOOD BASED challenges from the past seasons.
They only had to cook ONE dish and a cocktail? Season 5 had to cook two, a cocktail, AND serve during the Krewe of Orpheus Mardi Gras party. Is this a reward for the silliness of the "culinary Olympics" of last episode or just because it was so cold and they couldn't have cooked in that room? If so, why not lose the freezing atmosphere?
How can you worry about SourSarah? Floyd set her up for the win. She would never had thought the dish up on her own. As for facing the harsh cold weather; she's built for that like a seal (with her own blubber). Somehow, she felt if she said that she was nice, then she would be a nicer person. Unfortunately, just saying something doesn't make it so. She needed to be nice in deed as well, which she clearly wasn't. After Bev left (again), Sarah continued her negativity rants. Once again, her final dish was sub par due to execution problems. Aaaarrrggghhh. She's one of the most unlikable cooks in TC history.
Sarah should not get full credit for the asian dish! Recognition should go to Floyd, the one we all know is the true talent/brain behind the dish.
As we have seen ALL season so far, Sarah has made it crystal clear that she isnt a big fan of most things 'asian', so I dont think the winning dish was really 'her' dish at all.
I hope Paul wins this Top Chef! Paul probably WILL WIN if Tom drops his blatant favoritism and really judges the food. Maybe a' blind tasting' should be what happens for the finale. This would be the fairest way to judge and take the 'people' bias out of it!
I agree with most of the posters about the toxicity of Sarah and to some extent, Lindsay. Although Lindsay sometimes seemed a tad reluctant to get too vile. I have watched every single episode through all these years and while some cheftestants were irritating to various degrees, I can honestly say I have never "hated" a contestant...not even Lisa with all her smirks...until this year, that is. The winner? Sarah. She is so phony it makes me sick. And every single episode she had something nasty to say about Beverly. Get that cow off the show.
Also hate those stupid physical challenges.
I'm so happy Lindsay choked on that halibut and finally got eliminated. I'm tired to see how they had been nasty all season to Beverly.Honestly, I thought Beverly came back to make it to the finale, but she was misjudged, and nasty Sarah got to stay. So many people said that they hated Sarah for her bad attitude, and I hope all that negativity will help fail in her career. Tony Mantuano made a big mistake when he "took a chance on girl from Texas and sent her to Italy". She didn't deserve to work with this great chef.
Wow, apparently it seems the masses have spoken and they all agree on their dislike for Sarah.. My husband and I have been watching all season and we couldn't stand Beverly's treatment. And it wasn't only Sarah. But after Bev came back from battling in the Last Chance Kitchen, she earned the right to be back..and even then Sarah was being rude and being nasty, particularly behind her back. And that was what they recorded and allowed us viewers to see.. I hoped she would have WHIPPED her butt when she cooked against Sarah. But oddly enough, Sarah won. After hearing her say things like, Bev didn't have the right caliber of cooking to be back and then giving her such a FAKE hug when she beat Beverly.. Ughh! All I can say is Beverly is definitely the better person.. I hope Paul avenges Beverly and mops the floor with Sarah! WHOO!! TEAM PAUL!!!=^.^=
If you are an avid Top Chef fan like myself you’ve probably noticed that Canada is 2 weeks behind the US. What a drag. You can watch it online though so that you are up to speed. Tomorrow is the finale! Each chef will take over a restaurant in Vancouver and create a four course meal for the judges, family and friends. I have been rooting for Paul Qui since the beginning. You can tell without tasting his food that his technique is flawless. Although he seems to be a little more relaxed than my past fave Top Chef All Stars winner Richard Blais, they do have some similarities. Both strive for perfection and sometimes question themselves to the point of failure. I think the only reason that Blais didn’t win his season of Top Chef was because he was over-thinking and questioning himself way too much. When he came back in the All Stars he was more confident and ready to win. Paul has been very strong and confident all season until the last few challenges where he was questioning himself and it cost him some wins. I knew Sarah was strong from the beginning too. Her Italian cooking actually appeals to my palate but there is something missing. I don’t think that she has that extra layer of technique, precision and refinement that Paul has demonstrated in his Asian inspired food. Paul reminds me of a young Chef Zakarian and if he keeps it up he may be The Next Iron Chef someday. Paul, as Fabio from Top Chef All Stars said when he got kicked off “You are the only shadow in your sun”. Don’t over think it and don’t question yourself. You are the winner. Just cook.

Have to agree with comments for blind judging. When I get a plate at a rest., have no idea if the chef is a tiny, cutsie blonde or an unassuming, 6 1/2 ft black dude in shades. All I can judge is if the food is mediocre or stellar. Not living in a metro area, we out here in the hinterlands don't get chefs coming to our tables, we get waite staff that doesn't particularily care what we think of the neuances. So in Rest. Wars the judges see a smiley perkey Lindsey (too busy being bossy to do her job) & not the cussing witch telling Bev she can't use plastic spoons-MYODB.
Asian Invasion--Floyd is a favorite from TS Masters so when Sarah FREAKED at seeing Takashi and then could barely mumble the word Floyd at getting him instead, I wanted to reach in and strangle her. She didn't deserve his skills & wonderful spirit let alone the $20,000. There are takers & givers in life and Sarah and Linsey are takers. We can see that thru the "flat"screen. Still wish it was Paul, Ed and Nyesha or Bev in final 3. Would feel more honest. And If you'all don't agree---ya better tell us why!!!
Sarah stayed in her comfort zone for the entire contest. Cooking pasta? Okay, we got that and yet she still had the temerity to complain about Paul, Bev and even Ed for favoring Asian cuisine. When she put her little toe over the line she failed. Come on, a frozen cube? That should have been enough to send her home and yet the judges keep moving her forward.
I truly dislike her, dislike her mediocre abilities, her condescending attitude, her backstabbing and bullying. Illa might not have been the best chef in his season but at least he wasn't a detestable person. If Sarah is allowed to win this will easily be the worst season of Top Chef. I am normally a nice guy but I wish Sarah ill. She should be treated the same as she as treated others. That should make the rest of her life a living heck.
Sarah's hugging of Bev was SO fake. It's easy to be gracious as a winner. It was so obvious she was just happy to have won and would have said anything to Bev. Difficult to watch.
Great pic! You are very lovely!
I hope the producers read these comments because they would NEVER let a Top Chef be thought of so poorly. Everyone loved Richard last season. Most everyone is not fond of Sarah this season. She is NOT a Top Chef in the manner she behaves. I'll never forget her cutting off Bev in the car with, "Look at that tree!" So rude!!!
Love your dress!!
Sara needs to just grow up. Learn respect of others will win her respect than her hurtful remarks. Think about all the bullies who learn from such behavior and send other off the deep end. Not all people have hides lie a rhino.
Think of all the teenagers lost in Ohio tragedy, other college campuses, and young adults taking there lives because of such behavior.
I've been watching Top Chef since the beginning and although there has been a lot of "villains"-------by far Sarah is the worst! I swear if I were Beverly I would seriously want to punch her in the face. She's rude, condescending and an egomaniac! She has buddied up to Lindsay who is almost equal to her (in terms of the she-bully status). I know this is a contest, but there's not need to act like a damn mean girl bully!!! Your behavior is atrocious to say the least. At that point, who cares if you can cook or not. I really wished Beverly had beat you in the competition, but clearly she will beat you in everything else in life. Even after Beverly won (in the restaurant wars) you couldn't even congratulate her properly and then of course you had to kiss Lindsay's ass. Typical bully behavior. You're beastly Sarah and I hope karma gets a jump start early and awards Paul the final honor while your honor will probably be most hated contestant on Top Chef. Yep, it's harsh, but you need to hear it.
I put Sarah in the same category as Heather. She hated on Beverly so much yet she was such a hypocrite when Beverly got eliminated, she was the first one to be hugging her and consoling her. Probably under her breath saying "yes, thank God she's gone!" She is not a very nice person and all that crying and "oh my God I don't believe it" stuff is bull! I hope that Karma comes knocking at her door this evening in the finale. Paul is such a humble person, he has not hated on anyone this whole season. He's serious, doesn't show much emotion and he is there to do one thing COOK!! I hope to God that Paul wins tonight. He really does deserve it. I didn't hear him complain once this season. PAUL IS PURE CLASS! His family should be proud of him, they did an excellent job. He is a kind, good person. GOOD LUCK PAUL, KICK SARAH'S ***!!! I want to hear Padma say "Paul, you are TOP CHEF!!!"
I truly do not understand what these chef judges use for criteria to move the contestants forward but in this season it is, in my opinion seriously flawed. If Paul doesn't win, regardless if his dish is poured from a can of Chef-Boy-Ardee! He has won 8 times over the course of the season, Sarah has won 1 time. Being a Top Chef is not just the cooking though. It is also about how you handle yourself and treat others, and on that account, Sarah should have been eliminated back when Heather got booted. They are mean, nasty, backstabbing, horrible people. Did I mention how fake and transparent she is? I hope karma is in effect tonight and show Sarah for the person she really is, a witch, heartless and a bully. And no bully deserves to be Top Chef. If Paul doesn't win, I will never watch this show again. And I think Bev should kick Sarahs ass after the show is over, and maybe Heather's too. GO PAUL!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see how the reunion goes tonight. Lindsay is right up there with Heather and the Biggest Bully of Them All: Sarah! These obvious bullies, hopefully will be called on their most obnoxious cooking behavior!!! How awful were they?? That kind of hatred will taint their food. I would not want to eat from their kitchens. And I am so glad that Paul won! It is not a racial thing (to the rest of us, or the judges, thank God) but the fact that Paul just put everything into his cooking, not on hating others and looking to see where others might not be up to their own double standards. At the judges table, Paul kept congratulating Sarah for all the kudos piled upon her. When the judges complimented Paul on his consistent outstanding culinary abilities, Sarah just about sneered! Premature anything is not good, especially celebrating... Congratulations to the judges, BRAVO, and most of all, Top Chef Paul Qui!!! I agree with other poster, would have loved to see Nyesha is the finals instead of Sarah the BULLY!!!
