Erik grew up in Indiana and never finished college. Completely self-taught, Erik knew he wanted to be a designer from a very young age and worked hard to make it happen. Erik has honed his skills in theatrical lighting and set design and at 28, Erik is already a partner in a design firm in Chicago. Erik's style depends on his client's taste. He wants to be respected for someone who is looking outside the box. Erik believes that he is where he is today because of his drive. He is a very take-charge kind of guy in a competitive environment and is able to listen and follow directions, but he does like to be in control. He thinks his worst trait is that he overdoes things and puts too much into them. Erik believes that design is a way of life. It is not just a job that's over when you walk out the door. Erik currently lives with his boyfriend in Chicago and his greatest design achievement is their house, which he designed. He says: "A true designer is always looking at things to put their stamp on it."
