Hilary Duff has welcomed a new family member! On March 8, the actress and singer took to Instagram to share a snap of her adorable new pup. "We adopted an old dog," Duff noted, tagging the Los Angeles-based Love Leo Rescue. She added a hashtag that spelled out: "We love Lucy."
The mostly tan dog has a white pouf of fur on her chest and dainty white paws, while her ears have splotches of black fur. Lucy's new parents tied a festive red bandana around her neck for her homecoming picture, and looked delighted to welcome her into the family. Can you blame them? Just look at this sweetie!
Fans were quick to flood Duff's post with positive comments. There were plenty of awws and hearts, and one Instagram user noted: "This makes me so happy. Nobody ever wants to adopt older dogs. Too many die in shelters. Thank you."
Duff's boyfriend, Matthew Koma, later shared a photo of Lucy in her new home. While cuddling with the dog on the couch, he spelled out his plans to win her over. "Love Lucy and she ... looks fairly indifferent towards me," Koma noted. "I will Ricky Ricardo her heart."
The couple's adoption comes on the heels of some heartbreak last month. In February, Duff's 10-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, Dubois, passed away. In a sweet Instagram tribute to her beloved pet. "Honestly I would take the pain of losing you 10x over to have had you for even a quarter of that time my dubie. First of all ... thank you ... for being my best friend ... truly," she wrote. "You have been with me though true pain, true happiness and joy, true confusion and disappointment and all over again."
