We know all the good work that goes on at Vanderpump Dogs with the foundation's fight against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival and the Rescue Center that's found forever homes for more than 500 (!) dogs since its opening last year. Since we're such megafans of rescue pooches and also The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Lisa Vanderpump, we needed to make the trek out to the west coast to see the pooches in action.
Of all the animals we met and learned about while there, an unlikely twosome captured our hearts. No, we're not talking about Tom and Tom, we met Peter and his inseparable BFF, Rabbit. From what's known about the animals, their previous owners were evicted and left the twosome in the apartment after they moved out with just one big bag of food. No one realized the animals were still there until three weeks later when someone came to inspect the place.
Peter was very malnourished but they both managed to survive when they were then taken to ... a high-kill shelter in the LA area. Now, even though Vanderpump Dogs typically doesn’t take in any animals except dogs, they made an exception because of this special story and, dare we say, Peter and Rabbit's survival luck up until that point. They're a bonded pair so, as that description and their new collective names imply, they must go home together.
Here’s how we’d imagine their furrrever home profile in the doggie matching app of our dreams:
“Even when we had nothing, we still had each other”
- Age: Peter, 4, and Rabbit, less than one year
- Education: School of Hard Knocks
- Views: Loyal comedian (Peter) and chill cuddlebug (Rabbit)
- Favorite things: Ear scratches and Hanky the swan toy (Peter) and snuggly laps and carrots (Rabbit)
- Least favorite thing: Being away from Rabbit (Peter) and running out of carrots (Rabbit)
- Seeking: A homebody who’s patient, loving and kind
If you know someone in the LA metro area who would be a good fit for these two (or other #Vanderpups), please pass this along and invite them to stop by the Rescue Center at 8134 W. 3rd Street in Los Angeles.
