Meet the Real Shelter Dogs of Vermont — They're All Up for Adoption!

More adoptable cute dogs than you can shake a bottle of maple syrup at.

Any good Real Housewife, like the OG of The Real Housewives of Orange County Vicki Gunvalson, loves to travel and today’s Real Shelter Dogs have also put in some miles — although it’s nothing like Vicki’s annual pilgrimage to Andales in Puerto Vallarta. The pups we are featuring today have been rescued from high-kill shelters located in the southern United States and will be traveling to Vermont in search of their forever homes by means of White River Animal Rescue.

White River Animal Rescue, located in White River Junction, Vermont, is an all-volunteer rescue that focuses on saving dogs from high-kill situations; in fact, 92% of the dogs they rescue have between 30 minutes and 24 hours to live. The dogs are yanked from dire situations, fostered in the South where they receive veterinary care, and then the dogs are transported to the Northeast where they go directly to their forever home or are fostered until their perfect partner is found and then they can truly “whoop it up.”

And now meet your Real Shelter Dogs, complete with opening credits-worthy taglines!

If people can't handle my cute, it's really not my problem.” - Baxter

Baxter is a smart, loving, and handsome guy who is almost two years old. Baxter loves attention and would be a great dog for someone who is willing to work a bit to have a great dog. Baxter posses many traits of the Border Collie breed. Baxter enjoys walks around the neighborhood and playing in the yard.

“Some snap, some crackle, but I’m all Pop.” - Pop

Pop is an approximately nine-month-old puppy. Pop is extremely affectionate and loves giving kisses and being loved on. Pop is doing great with potty and leash training. He is a super sweet guy who is anxious to find his family.

“I am the star of the show and the spotlight is on me, honey.” - Charlie

Charlie is a six-year-old sweetheart of a dog. Charlie loves all people. He is a very laid back guy but is also a great running/hiking partner. Charlie is very smart and loves to learn. Charlie does want to be the only dog in his home though.

“I’m about to give you life, so please give me a walk.” - Yogi Bear

Yogi Bear is a wonderful and wiggly guy who will be available for adoption as soon as he finishes treatment for heartworm. Yogi is four or five years old and is great with other dogs. He was a little shy at first but is learning to love playing. Yogi walks well on leash, loves to be with people, and is eager to please.

“Come for me and my tail will twirl for you.” - Akasha

Akasha is an expressive dog, but is also quite loving. She is approximately one-and-a-half years old. Akasha gets along well with dogs and people but appreciates a calm introduction to all. Akasha does well on leash and would be a great dog for a single person or family as she is a great companion who wants to be in on the action.

“Pick up this princess and it’ll be your crowning achievement.” - Princess

Princess is a large breed puppy who is almost six months old. She and her brother were abandoned at a boarding facility in NH. Princess is a very sweet girl who loves attention. She is also very smart and learned how to sit and take a treat with a gentle mouth in just a few tries! Princess is very loved by all that have worked with her and will make a great family dog.
