I am having a very frustrating morning, careening to LaGuardia in awful traffic after I couldn't seem to commandeer an elevator in my building or a cab on my block. Things could be worse, of course. I could be celebrating my first anniversary of my show on live TV with guests that aren't in the mood to party. Now THAT would be bad, wouldn't it.
Oh you know I'm just playing. But, yeah, looking back on Monday night — and reading all your comments and tweets — it was a weird vibe. Our season finale on Monday night should be a little more upbeat with Bethenny and Rachel Dratch and a surprise from Jersey.
Last night I the heavily lauded revival of La Cage Aux Folles starring Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge. It was as good as everybody's been saying, and weirdly reminded me of the acclaimed 2000 revival of Cabaret in that it was small and gritty and powerful and just cut through the glitz right to the heart of the story. And the Cagelles are stupendous! I was entranced, once again, by the she-males kicking and stomping and dancing. I dig dancing she-males, and so who doesn't and who cares!? (SIDENOTE: I love it that Joy Behar drinks out of a mug that says "So what! Who cares?!")
We went backstage after the show and met everybody and the post-show Cagelles were glossy and shvitzy, as well they should be. I asked the shvitzed Cagelles about their shower situation backstage. They said some of them shower at the theater and some live very close and shower at home. See that? I ask the hard questions, so you don't have to!
We had a lovely meal at Orso, which to me seemed suprisingly quiet. The waiter said it was normal, though, cuz it's late July and there's nothing new on Broadway and the sky is NOT falling and Orso is doing just fine. So that calmed me down, though I can't say I was upset at all.
This morning I am heading to Northern Wisconsin to visit the camp I attended for six years. This is something I've been wanting to do for a looong time and it should be trippy and nostalgic and weird and crisp and great. I will let you know how it goes.
Tonight is two hours of power on Bravo: Top Chef D.C. and Work of Art. I can't think of one good reason not to watch both of those shows (besides being somewhere in Northern Wisconsin with no telly)!
Andy, OMG the best for the clubhouse would be Joy Behar! She would tell those Jersey girls a thing or twelve!
Happy belated Anniversary Andy and Watch What Happens!
Shower situations...I once had a fan ask me if we showered after Penn State vb matches before flying to the next night's match. (No.) AND as a 6'5'' girl, I could probably star in La Cage Aux Folles - that would make shower situations VERY interesting. I digress...
Anyway, I'm just a REALLY TALL publicist now hitting my head on ceilings all over Hollyweird (wah wah wahhhhh), and one of my clients is a winery. Wondering the best way to get you more info and possibly some bottles to drink and/or pour on your guests? If I don't hear from you, I'll cross my fingers that there just isn't internet in Northern Wisconsin. Email: email@example.com
Thanks in advance Andy, and in all seriousness, many congrats on the first year.
Love your show and all the shows on Bravo! Please check out babelgum.com to see the Real Little Housewives of New Jersey- you will love it! From Danielle being TOXIC to Little Theresa flipping tables.
All the best-S. Nylund
please give the name of the Iphone game Jacqueline was playing while she was on the phone with Danielle's Energist. It looked very interesting and I would love to try it out. I know you asked her, however I did not hear her answer. I have read all the blogs, have gone on ASK.COM and have not been successful in finding it...thanks for your help love your show...keep it coming
Pls no more Danielle! Season finale, when does the show return? What are we supposed to do without our Andy Cohen fix?
I went to camp in Northern Wisconsin too! Tower Ranch Camp for Girls in Rhinelander. Loved it! (This was in the 1960's - I'm old). Hope you have a wonderful time.
I grew up in Northern WI, and attended/worked at a couple of camps. Long gone from there, but love to return to visit family/friends in the warm weather when I can. Can't wait to read about your visit to Duluth and N. WI! You are hilarious and smart--Love you.
Is your camp near Minocqua, WI? That is where I went as well!
I went to the all girls camp though.....
LOVED your people magazine picture.........
Just read that Teresa Giudice and Joe could "go to jail" re some alleged sketchy financial business and alleged related perjury.
PLEASE Andy, bring Teresa back on 'watch What Happens' to tell her side of this story!!! Would she still be on Housewives if she really did go to jail? Can BRAVO visit someone behind bars???
Even if Teresa did go to jail in the future, I think this fact should not exclude her from appearing on Housewives. After all, Danielle did that before and she's on Housewives today. Funny thing, Teresa and Danielle could end up having more in common and even start swapping jailhouse stories. Maybe Danielle could even give Teresa some advice before going to jail. Are either of them in contact with Lindsay Lohan?
Andy, you are soooo HOT HOT HOT and the main reason anyone-straight or gay-would tune into BRAVO.
Wow, your career is so impressive! Thank you for all the creativity and wonderful programing. Why are you so insecure of Jeff Lewis?
Andy, I Love You! You're my favorite person on television. I wish you had a show on every night. I too thought that the Birthday Celebration guests didn't play along very well. I think Danielle was a downer and both of them were not to nice about their gifts. I'd love a Mazel shirt or the shot glasses, even two sets. But if Jenny and Jeff were the guests it probably would have been great. I love Jeff and Jenny too. You three would have made a perfect party.
Oh Andy, you are adorable! I love your first paragraph, so funny.
Can't wait for your season finale show next week, it will be fun!
