A couple pieces o biz before I get to the main event:
** Tonight is a special bonus Real Housewives of NYC featuring never-seen footage from last season and more from the reunion. There a moment in it that I said on my blog I wouldn't have put on the air, so look for that and we can discuss tomorrow .... To get you in the Housewives mood, check out the cover of the NYT Home section featuring a massice spread about the homes of the Jersey Housewives! Bubbies!
** Andy's blog reader Bruce posted a diatribe yesterday based on his assertion that I was somehow dissing the military. The misunderstanding is perhaps because of the proximity of my "I heart fleet week" mention to my "why oh why isn't gay marriage legal" moment. I don't know from where Bruce is coming, but I heart the military, dude. It's all good.
** To celebrate tonight's awesome episode of The Fashion Show (the teams go away and competition gets great), Austin Scarlett stopped by the dorm room to play a little fashion game ... Check it out!
That was an interesting blog by Bruce, and Andy gay marraige is going to lead to gay divorce! Ask the first gay couple in Mass. who tied the knot! I live in a county where you can have a gay domestic partership and it pains me to say that we dissolved it (but got back together - happy ending). Sorry, I just don't see marraige as the be all and end all whether gay or straight. Just ask Goldie or Brittany.
Andy, we here in California are so disappointed in this State;it not the fair and balanced(pardon the expression) place it is cracked up to be.. It's about "Orange County type Conservative" bigotry.. Everyone needs now to look to New England- go figure. Should the GLBT move and take away the financial resources they provide the State? I would love to see it happen in protest but it is probably not very realistic.
And Andy, I for one, am very upset about the picture( mug shot) on Danielle floating around on the internet and the revelation of her conviction as a prostitute and kidnapper, etc. I think BravoTV needs to get her off (post haste) and offer an apology to viewers and the other housewives..
To viewer Janette. I wish those in California who wish to marry (same sex marriage) would move to Iowa. They could use a boost to the economy- I mean this in a good way. Iowa is a very beautiful and historic state. Just think you could buy a mansion in Iowa for under 300K.
Love the picture of you and Marie Osmond! The gay marriage thing would be progressed if President Obama came out and indorsed it. His word is like Oprah. Look what happened to Vegas when he told companies not to go there if they are recieving goverment monies..400 groups cancelled their meetings. Lost Revenue! I digress..have a good one.
Ode to Andy
Housewives are the bane of Andy Cohen, Arrested, tested, backsides showin' At the reunions he keeps the questions throwin' Guess that's just what keeps him goin'!
In NY Ramona and the Countess, My oh my, his problems "mountess", Then add Kelly and Bethenny, for a season of pure lunacy!
OC, Atlanta, NY and more, Excitement's what were looking for! The best line ever was NeNe to Kim, "Close your legs to married men."
Now New Jersey stirs the pot, Will we see another housewife's mugshot?
To D.C. now you say you're bound, Heaven knows just what you found, Housewives of a political kind, Agendas that will blow our mind!
Andy, thank you for this guilty pleasure, It's brought joy to many beyond measure, There's only one thing left to do, Give your fans a show about YOU!
LOVE LOVE LOVE that the ladies of New York Housewives were made to answer for thier back stabbing ways, it made the show!!!!!I was so disappointed with Orange Co housewives because they were allowed to move on to the next subjust and gloss over their behavior, why have them there if not to confont them and make them accountable. Can't wait to see the next seasons of both New York, hopefully without Kelly and Orange County, not really into NJ, I've tried watching it twice and ending up turning both times.
Mike B. so be it.. But to those who wish to be married (and I must admit I do not have many G friends who do though they are in solid relationships) at least let's allow all Americans their civil rights.
Does Jill ever shut up?? Did you ever notice how she talks and talks and interrupts and talks more and is just ridiculous overall?? I am kind of disappointed in you for not correcting her on her certain gay "stereotypes" she perpetuates....hate it when straight people who think they are hip think they know gay culture.
Andy....PLEASE next season, tell the NY wives to ease up on the product pushing???? It's a bit ridiculous and something you don't see on the other housewives shows- I don't care how much business is a part of their lives, we don't want to watch their own little infomercials!
The Lost Footage:
Kudos to the producers and editors that choose the final footage because the lost footage was quite boring. I immediately became more attentive ending with more of the reunion... I NEED MORE REUNIION FOOTAGE!!!
Please I am begging you enough with the RHONYC. Some of those clips were on your website already. I don't think I can take much more of Bethany and Jill Zarin. I don't care how much footage you find....BURN IT. ENOUGH!!!!!
I tried to watch the extras of the NY housewives tonite but Jill and Bethenny have such ugly personalites and behavior. Had to again turn the station. I think that is why the NJ ladies are my favorites they mind their own business.
Congrats to Bravo for getting an extra episode out of RHoNY (and the extra advertising $$$)
And congrats to the editors for having 38 minutes (including commercials) of cute random clips. The episode really started out as a nice epilogue to a stressful (and sometimes nasty) season.
Then came minute 39.... hmmm, retreading some pretty harsh reunion shots... that was a good idea why? (certainly it wasn't new nor did it complement the established tone)
thanks for any insight.
ps. was looking for the "moment" you mentioned on your blog to no avail.
ANDY PLEASE WHERE DO I write to complain about the audio? Bravo is my favorite channel but I cannot stand to watch it any more because its hard to figure out. when the lips are ahead of the voice????????????????????
Please i bet alot of people are sick of it Janet
Hi Cutie ~
Just some thoughts after reading blogs and watching the shows tonight.
Re: Bruce - I don't think he shifted gears from one paragraph to the next and jumbled them together. Regardless, why does anybody, and I mean anybody, care if gays get married? How does it affect or harm anyone? If two people love each other enough to want to have a legal marriage and all that accompanies that, then let them. I honestly cannot grasp the threat people feel towards this issue. As to gays in the military - if they want to serve in this time of voluntary enlistment then let them for crying out loud. I could care less what someones sexual preference is when they're defending us and our country. It has no bearing on their ability or bravery.
Re: The lost footage of RHWNY - it was okay and loved Bethanny's time on Fire Island. I've only heard about it (FI) and loved seeing it. I kinda expected a few more fireworks but the interaction between the ladies had been shown on the previous reunion shows. Whether Simon is gay, the tennis match, who wants to vote Kelly off... I wish the viewers could vote on that last one. Kelly just doesn't bring anything worthwhile to the show. No personality and a head case to boot. She's just an irritating distraction and I usually leave the room when she's on. One final thing about the NY women - could you do something about all the schilling and promoting of their books and products? It is getting really old and none of the other franchises show the women trying to sell their shit. It's okay when you see them working on something or they show their charity events but all the constant selling and advertising feels cheap and exploiting.
Re: The Fashion Show - much better tonight with the designers working on their own projects. Can't they do anything to make the workroom not seem like a sweat shop? And please, the lighting and runway are like watching it with dark glasses on and you hardly get to see the outfits modeled. They just need to keep tweaking it.
Finally, what about all the crap coming out about Danielle on the New Jersey show? Holy shit. A book with her mug shot in it and the stripper coke whore aspect... Those other women are going to eat her alive and then leave her bones in the sand!
Thanks for letting me get these things out.
Wow, Andy. Go Bravo for completely slamming every women in America over a size 12 with your "promo" for next week's Fashion Show. Can't even begin to imagine watching it.
After the "dun, dun.. dun!" music, focusing on large bust sizes... as if my OWN size "G" is the kiss of death on this planet... but the snide and ghastly horrors of "I have a 43" vs. I have a 45"" model made me not only horrified, but running up the stairs to measure my own tush... and yup, you guessed it 42.5" And now I feel like crap.
Thanks a lot Bravo. Make your money off of people who sign up for a beating, not your viewers.
well, Jill and Bethenny were again mean as heck on the show last night. NJ housewives are so much better.
Andy, I have to congratulate you that you held your cool when Jill and Ramona were so clearly homophobic with their comments. Do they think that those who are gay are a different species? How do you handle it when they are making such offensive comments in front of you Jill in particular is repulsive. She is neither hip or funny, she is simply offensive.
Someone has got to post this on Bravo... it's a hilarious re-imagining of the real housewives in space.
I watched the NYC extra footage. It wasn't earth shattering, but somewhat fun. Obviously, the inclusion of Alex's gay friends who love Simon, yet assert that they don't get the "gay" vibe was to ease the curiosity of the masses who believe the opposite. This pair seem to be the only friends A & S have or had that agreed to be on camera, right? In spite of their vibes, the clips showed Simon in various stages of undress or dressed up - all displayed his lust for self absorption. Frankly, I tired of seeing and hearing Simon go on and on about his style and Alex's model "figger"... From my view, they are both belonging to the style impaired. Meanwhile, Alex continued to come off as exciting and a wet noodle. She sat smiling with clown make up and expressed few strong opinions. "Flip a coin" when asked who should be voted off the island. Take a stand, lady! Most of the other clips centered on Miss B - who seems to be the star - even though she isn't a wife. All in all, I think you can leave the rest of the footage in the vault. Nothing new will be seen, or will it???
btw: The Fashion Show is terrible. Isaac is extremely rude and childish. I truly miss the big GUNN and his helpful mentoring. Last night's elim was ridiculous. Andrew created a dull piece in 3 out of 4 judges' opinions. However, Lidia poorly executed her idea in the 4 out of 4 judges' opinions. So - who was let go? Andrew! That seems totally unfair.
Andy, darling, did you REALLY pet his hair? LOL!!! I think I wet myself just a little. I love when you video blog your wonderful drop in guests. More please.
