It is a GLORIOUS morning in NYC. The kind where you think maybe everybody on the street is going to break into a fantabulous dance routine. Actually, I live in the West Village so this is an option on any given ayem.
I am in the greenroom of TODAY waiting to go on with Hoda and Kathie Lee. I met a country singer named Dierks Bentley, who seems to know a thing or two about the Housewives, via his wife. Anyway he's a nice dude and Kathie Lee is wearing royal blue and that is pretty much what's happening in the greenroom this morning.
The weekend in the Hamptons was fantastic. I was superlowkey but efficient - got a lot of exercise, read an intense book (Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man by Bill Clegg), screened many future Bravo shows, and watched a great American Masters about The Doors. (I love The Doors.)
I decided on the drive home that "California Girls" by Katy Perry is concurrently horrible and perfect, and that it is to LA what "Empire State of Mind" is to NYC. "Empire State of Mind" - like NYC - is anthemic, deep, rich, and deeply evocative, while "California Girls" - like LA - is bubblegum, light, surface, airy, and stupid. They're both great, but I think Snoop is what turns the Katy Perry song from suckage to awesome. I just want you to know my deep thoughts as they happen.
I read your comments from Friday and I agree that I wasn't thinking too deeply when I made our jackhole into something of a "skit" at the end of the show Thursday. I hear what you're saying, people. I loved having Neal Patrick Harris and Mark Consuelos at the show, joined by some old high school pals of mine. After the show we had so much fun at the Boom Boom Room. Did I mention that?
Have a great day everybody.
Andy, Please let this week's JACKHOLE be Helen Thomas for her comments about sending Jews back to Germany and Poland. I can't believe she said this.
Andy, I just love you! I would like to know how to submit my questions for the reunion shows. By the time I hear about it, it's already been recorded.
I guess you can't appear to be attacking anyone because that's just rude and ungracious, but I wish that someone would really hold these ladies' feet to the fire and make them acknowledge their stuff instead of dancing around it more. I cannot stand that Jill gets away with interrupting and taking charge of every conversation that included her. Nobody says, "Hey, you're doing it right now. See??" I wish that someone would say out loud that Bethenny is not mean. She's snarky and a smart-ass, but it's never mean-spirited. Also, does anybody ever acknowledge (in detail) that Bobby had no business showing up on the lady trip? I realize that that got swallowed up in the grand faux pas of Jill's surprise--so out of line in itself, for a number of reasons. Even if Jill were on good terms with everyone, it's just wrong to pop up unexpectedly so far into the trip on a group that has already settled into their "groove" and dynamic together. I am a faithful Real Housewives viewer; I watch them all. My favorites are Vicky, Bethenny, and Caroline--real women who don't dance around the BS. Thanks for the shows. I was telling my husband recently that I watch these shows because I love the drama but can't stand it in my own life.
Hey Andy...I was just wondering if you knew why no new episodes of the Real Housewives of New Jersey have been posted on the website in 3 weeks? Thats the only way I can watch the show. TTYL!! :)
ANDY! How was the book? Portrait of an Addict? That is on my list to read next! I think it will hit home as I have a close person in my life who has struggled with that type of thing. Love you!
Thank you for taking responsibility for your Jackhole skit. I thought is was just awful but thank you for saying it. Your the best. This makes you even better.
Hi Andy, I have a GREAT idea for a Reality TV Show but I can't get anyone to listen to my "pitch". I guess because there are so many ideas out there. I know it will be a money maker. I already registered it with WGA. Can you PLEASE help me or point me in the right direction? Thanks!
How come you never mention RHNJ on your show or blog? I look forward to your opinion but you never give one. Why not?
Thanks for manning up and taking responsibility for the skit on last weeks show.
Thanks for mentioning the book you were reading. Looked it up and it sounds great. You should check out This is where I leave you by Jonathan Tropper. It is about shiva. Still reading it, but very enjoyable and humrous so far.
Maybe you should start an onlin ebook club? At least give your recommendations, reviews online. You know, become our gay-Oprah, or faux-prah.
Ummm, thanks for making New York sound awesome ("Empire State of Mind" - like NYC -anthemic, deep, rich, and deeply evocative") but managing to put down LA at the same time ("California Girls" - like LA - is bubblegum, light, surface, airy, and stupid").
First, Happy Birthday Andy. But, your killing me. Due to unemployment the cable was cut and I'm waiting for full episodes to be shown on Bravo. Where are they? What happend to 9 By Design? Top Chef Masters? Since you dont do Hulu, I'm at a loss. Why would you limit access to your shows which are being shown on your site??
After seeing tonights RHONJ episode with the teaser that a housewife will leave, I can only hope that it is not Dina although I would understand. You guys have got to get off this "crazy" thing you've been into lately involving way too much fighting and castmembers who have clear slippage when it comes to their grasp of reality. I for one take no pleasure in watching someone who is disturbed try to interact with others. This is really bordering on exploitation. All these shows are supposed to be fun and light and entertaining. Yes, we want to root for some and dislike others, but this season on all the RH franchises, things have just turned too dark and sour and I believe are turning alot of faithful viewers off. Please think about what you are doing here. You have something good, don't turn it into something pitiful, disturbing, and most of all unwatchable.
Ok, tonights eopisode is off the chart NJ ladies are crazy! Kim G really redeemed herself as she looked embarrassed to be with Danielle. What a DRAMA QUEEN IS DAIELLE SERIOUS????
love ya!!!! i want 2b your friend and hangout come do your show from CHICAGO!!!!!JACKHOLE is the best!! this week and everyweek RUSH FATHEAD LIMBAUGH. AND ANY REPUBLICAN
hi andy. i like you bunches! lol you are funny but i wish sometimes you would ask tougher questions. i saw a few people asking where jills blog is. personally i dont care. im tired of her. she cries on q and she is the only one who stares at the camera too much!
I think Andy is the Jackhole of the week for making a dig at California for being "bubblegum and stupid" and not acknowledging that New York is dirty, stinky, and everyone there seems deeply depressed and angry.
