Tonight is one of my FAVE FAVE FAVE episodes of RHOC in the show's history. It features a whomping fight, a prayer circle, marital discord, Merv Griffin's house, real-ness, and an insane hairdo from Gretchen's mom involving a visor. I am obsessed with this hairdo and I will be discussing it on Watch What Happens Live tonight with my guests Wendy Williams and Alexis Bellino.
Last night I worked until after 8 and when I left Rock Center I did my ceremonial turn back/look up to check out the amazing building. You can't ever get over the beauty of this place. I had to take a pic...
From there I headed to dinner with Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa at Maialino Restaurant in the Gramercy Park Hotel. The food was as delicious as my companions (very) and we stuffed ourselves and had a lotta laughs. And we had a gingey waitress. (You know how I feel about a ginger.)
When I got home, my DVR had weirdly recorded The Real World and I weirdly watched it, and the whole thing was kismet because it featured a beautiful coming out story of a housemate named Mike. I fastforwarded through the girl crying about not being able to get her band together and just watched Mike. It was sweet.
OK I gotta go. Lots to do today including Isaac Mizrahi's fashion show at noon!
HI ANDY! I sent a link for an article Andy Chen wrote in THE DESIGN OBSERVER on NO H8 to your blog email address....I hope it made it to you. Figured you would like it since I know you had also done a poster. I tried to post to your FB fan page to get help from you...but it looks like you aren't responding to posts now. Busy guy. Hope you are having fun!!!
GORGEOUS pic of Gramercy Park Hotel btw. love. it.
I loved Mailino. I had the absolute perfect meal there. Danny is a genius! Has he ever been on Top Chef? He should be.
Andy-can't wait for the shows tonight (OC and yours!). It's all just sooo damn good.
On an off-beat note, pls straighten the picture behind your head (on the show). It's crooked, and driving me nuts. ;)
Love ya long time,
Crystal 'should-have-been-a-housewife' Smith
Love your Mazel t-shirt! Wish you would get a Jackhole of the week t-shirt to give my husband!
We want Wendy Williams...we want Wendy Williams! Come on Andy & Bravo...it is obvious that Wendy is a huge fan of all your HW shows. You really need to get her on WWH Live.
Andy, here is what I had to say about tonight's RHOC episode:
Just watched some of the episode where you went to lunch with the ladies, Lynne left and you were attacked by Tamra, Gretchen and Alexis. Frankly, I think THEY should be appalled at their behavior and you should be proud to be such a successful, positive and strong role model for women. Your daughter is clearly proud of you (as I am of my mother) and she stood up for you and is clearly proud of you. You are a wonderful role model for your daughter and other young professional women. Just wanted to say that, as a young professional woman, who looks up to her mother, I am glad that you are out there sharing your story. Put me on Team Vicki any day!
Did anyone else notice when Gretchen and Slade were dining with her parents she had her diamond ring on her left ring finger and then she moved her bangs away from her face at one point and then she wasn't wearing the ring? Can't imagine taking that ring off and just sitting it on the table.
Ok I must say that after watching Real Housewives this evening. Lynne's daughter is so emotional. She makes my skin crawl. She will cry at anything that comes her way. What drama class is she taking and what alcoholic drink is she always on to cry so much. And Lynne totally is spaced out since last season. Spoiled Spoiled Spoiled. Dude she is not even cute!
So you say your gay, does that mean that you don't believe in GOD? Why is it ok to make fun of someone who believes. I don't know who was righgt but the bottom line is that you made fun of her(Alexis) beliefs and no matter how she feels about Viki, she prayed for her daughter. We all need to be less concerned about how things look and not be embarressed about prayer and GOD. It was obvious that everyone was at the table.
Hi Andy, tonight episode was CRAZY!! The whole pray thing was strange. Especialy after Alexis screamed on Vicki. What was she thinking.I feel sorry that Vicki and Brianna had to go through such an awful lunch. Alexis just got there she need to take it down a notch!! Can't wait til next week.
OMG! Andy my two favorite people together Andy and Wendy! Shameful of Wendy that she failed the current events millionaire test! Anyway Andy, YOOOHOO (as if you cant tell whose side I am on) Loved you in STL, wanted to speak with you on a personal note b/c I know your SOUlmate! As I drink my wine, (you know you cant watch your show drinking diet coke) I think of my best FRIend! If you are available you have to meet him! We both have met others that know you and think you two together would be compatible! If interested please contact me... I MAKE THINGS HAPPEN! BTW, my nephew was at the Science Center in a shirt I bought him that said "BETTY Ford DRopout (not taking people in recovery serious)! and this lady went crazyyy! How would my idol Andy have Responded? Why are people so SEnsitive? Love, Your Jewish American Princes
Hi Andy, Although this has nothing to do with this weeks episode I'm hoping you can can guide me in the right direction? On last weeks episode when the girls went shopping Gretchen was wearing a gorgeous red/pinkish? hat. I really want to purchase this hat. How can I find out where she bought it! For the future is there a link that tells viewers about the clothes/accessories the Housewives wear and information on the stores?
Andy, Alexis' prayer was a positive sign, regardless of how others feel about praying, or at least praying in the manner that Alexis' faith encourages. She tried to move forward and end the bickering. All Vicki does is CRY CRY CRY. That is a symptom of depression, and Vicki should seek some kind of help, since she insists she is "so over" these ladies, yet, whenever she is with them they bring her to constant tears. Alexis should have included Vicki's drastic mood swings in her prayers, too!
Just finished reading Jill Zarin's blog on RHOC and I watched last night episode and I must confess I am getting tired of the Jerry Springer "feel" I get from watching RH franchise. I am not sure if it started with the Jersey or Atlanta wives but I am not enjoying them anymore. The housewives that don't work outside their homes are desperate for attention and gossiping and fighting fills that void. They can all keep their "camera balls".OC was fun to watch at the begining because they WERE friends and felt like they respected, helped and most importantly enjoyed each others company. Watching them now its like a rid-i-culous combo of Survivor/Jerry Spring/Jersey Shore. Its insane and now to boot everybody is broke! The ladies shopping at a resale store?! Its a crazy world when Vicki is the sane and appealing persona. I am going to watch RHONY but if it turns to the same crap I am dropping them all. I have started watching Kell and found the freshness that RHOC used to have. I will admit, I will watch anything Bethanny is on.
LOVE you Andy!!!!!! That's #1 (loved your Skid Row impersonation on the show last night no matter how Wendy took it.... LOL).
Second, Alexis has become my favorite housewife ever. She is classy, spiritual and yet also stands up for herself, especially against the big bully Vicki. She was way TOOOOO soft on her in San Francisco. Vicki called her a hypocrite when Alexa was just telling her Vicki hurt her feelings?? What is hypocritical about that? If Alexis hadn't said anything and pretended everything was o.k., THAT would be hypocritical. So which is it Vicki?
And why can Vicki sit in judgement of everyone from her realtor throne and yet can't take any feedback? Vicki - you need to get more confidence and maybe a beautiful and kind woman like Alexis wouldn't threaten you so much. Who cares how many nannies she has?? She really balances her life beautifully and is a wonderful mother. That is #1. Vicki had to mention WORK when her daughter was talking to her about maybe having cancer? Now what is that about?? I'm just saying, Vicki, if you can't take it, don't dish it......
There! Got if off my chest, Andy!!!! Keep up your great work on the show!!! I never miss it!!
Does Lynn Curtin really think we are dumb? Last season before her and Racquel's plastic surgery her own daughter Alexa was on saying how they had financial troubles and didn't understand why they were spending money on it. Then She and Alexa in their own words last nights show talked about the serveal times they have moved in the last few years, and now she is going on tv claiming she knew nothing about financial issue's? When her daughters are constantly out of control she doesn't know why.. Lynn you can't always be the victim 1st w/ your out of control daughters and now with the house/ financial stuff. Your spending that 1400.00 for a jacket after you "just learned" your financial status shows your are the problem not the solution. Lynn Time to put your big girl panties on
I have been a HUGE fan of the Real Housewives since the first season. I have NO idea why Bravo is not putting better cast members on this show. Lynne & her daughters are painful to watch & I must admit, I now fast-forward the DVR when they are on. I also thought that Alexis would be a good addition, but I now see that she is not. She is not even interesting...especially when conducting a prayer in front of the cameras.
I love Vicki & her daughter! Gretchen is also fun to watch. I am simply disappointed that the OC series is not better. I am looking forward to the return of New York & hopefully New Jersey (soon)!
Hi Andy, You MUST help me with this style question from RHOC! Who makes Gretchen's blue and white monokini bathing suit that she wears in a recent episode, and she is also seen wearing in the opening credits of the show??? I must have it!! Thank you!! Carolyn
bravo to you on these wild and wacky nutshells of american wifey life!
season after season i watch your gals -- what an addiction: it's fashion and gossip and all that good stuff, and more than that, what life affirming viewing it is to see such train wrecks in the face of so much opportunity, money and privilege. it is truly the 21st c "money does not buy you happiness (or good taste, for that matter)" message that is relatable on so many levels -- and its a barrel of laughs, gasps and eye-rolls to boot. you can't make up this stuff. fact really is crazier than fiction -- your shows are a sociologists dream. anybody studying them? i can see it now -- somewhere a university class will feature this stuff.
i see a big story arc in all the series -- at this point the women are all getting fully sick of each other and there are contests everywhere for the alpha female spot (eek. sounds porny). amazing. i can already tell the nyc gals are in that mode from the previews, and i will be sure to watch. morbid curiosity? no, much less that than this great affection for each and every one of those gals. in their caricature-like personalities, they are all reflections and aspects of ourselves -- like good, honest mirrors that one can hold up to help keep it real when the tv show is over and the day to day commences.
Andy, I still love all the Real Housewives shows but you know what I miss? The way the original OC women talked alot about their families and their backgrounds to give context for their present situations. Loved the flashbacks with all the old photos. They all had interesting "stories" that took the viewer in. In contrast, the other RH casts rarely delved into their backgrounds. Therefore, few had interesting stories other than in-cast fighting. OC, in the meantime, shifted toward the in-cast fighting as the seasons went on. Why the change? How can we get the RH back to its original format of talking about real lives and real problems?
