Last night I went to a book party at the Monkey Bar for movie superproducer Jerry Weintraub. It was a very media crowd of fancy people; I kept seeing Connie Chung across the room and am pissed I didn't get a chance to talk to her after working with her years ago at CBS. I like her! Oh, and I can't get over what a nice guy Jimmy Fallon is.
After that I headed to Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chefs event at the Four Seasons Restaurant (also where Bethenny got married and the hub of many fantastic events) with Work of Art executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker. There were about 10 stations that each featured incredible, inventive food from Food & Wine's Best New Chefs from across America.
My personal high point of the night was seeing the brothers Voltaggio cooking an amazing take on chicken wings, side by side in brotherly harmony. I tried to stir up some trouble but Michael wouldn't have it. Why is it kinda cute seeing twini-ish brothers cook?
We also ran into Kelly Choi, whose Top Chef Masters premieres tonight after the Shear Genius finale. (By the way I am announcing your Shear Fan Favorite on WWHL tomorrow night at midnight.) Kelly is fantastic and so is the second season of her show. We also chatted with Tom Colicchio and one of the evening's hosts, Gail Simmons. Plus Harold Deiterle, Jen Carroll, and our first female Top Chef Stephanie Izzard.
This morning I did not see the cleaning lady at the gym, but on my way out (I was very late) I did catch Kathie Lee and Hoda's host chat. Quote of the day: "The French once loved us and we once loved them." Kathie Lee said it and Hoda tried to mop it up and say, "We still love them." It was a moment.
Have a great day. Don't forget your Bravo tonight!
I had always heard that the French weren't fond of Americans. One of my Daughter in laws has been to France several times and she said the people were very kind and helful to her.She loves Paris most of all.Like everyplace else we have to judge people as individuals.I'm sure Kathie Lee was making a joke...she has a wacky sense of humor.I saw you on the show and I have to say you looked great. Not to mention the fact that you're interesting to listen to but so nice even when you're being naughty.Love you Andy!!!!
I am so disappointed in Shear Genius! I devoted my Wednesday nights to this show and it was a huge disappointment last night. Brig winning...come on! Brig was in the bottom 2 many times and I believe only stayed for her controversy that the producers wanted to keep on. Janine and Matthew never landed in the bottom 2 and they won almost every competition. This is just ridiculous! You have to address this...Shear Genius has lost a viewer in me...
Love you Andy and love your show...I visited your studio last night as I was there to see the taping of In the Cube. It was just so cool to be inside your little place...All the best....
I think the cleaning lady has a thing for you and wants her own show called "Watch what happens to my behind." You are the greatest and always think you should be nominated for a noble peace prize for navigating the rocky Real HOusewives Reunion.
I think the cleaning lady was just flirting with you.
How could you adore Kathie Lee? She's a foot-in-mouth moron with many malapropos comments.
I enjoyed Christian's special. It made me smile from beginning to end because for someone so young, the talent is undeniable. Yet he's so grounded with those that are closest to him.
Shear Genius morphed into Shear Madness when Brig was kept on. The outcome doesn't even matter to me. However, TC Masters will be fun. I'm curious why some first season chefs are allowed to make a comeback. That's just strange.
The bickering bunch over at NYC has made that show no longer fun to watch. Since the Drama Queen-B and Bravo Dahling, Bethenny has divulged that her friendship with Jill is permanently fractured, the show holds no suspense or promise of fun and is therefore unwatchable. Thanks for promoting Ms. B to a higher level of obnoxiousness.
At least you're still lovable and adorable!
I am very excited for Top Chef Masters. It's a good little teaser between Top Chef seasons. I like getting to know who the pros are, what types of food they cook and where their restaurants are. Love me some Bravo! PS - Brian got burned last season!!
