10 Questions With... Daniel V!

Daniel Vosovic talks with Andy Cohen.

He started the season under the radar, won a record setting five challenges, became a TV heartthrob, emerged as a RUNWAY finalist, and now Daniel Vosovic is forced to do endless blog interviews like this!

HEY DANIEL V.
Andy!

WASSUP?
I just had my collection picked up to be photographed at a studio. I can't wait for you to see how it looks photographed. I'm using all these photos for my website. The site should go up in the next two weeks by the way!

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE A "TEEN BEAT" HEARTHROB?
You are ridiculous for asking this question! This is preposterous!

DENY IT! I DARE YOU!
The whole idea of ME being a heartthrob is very ridiculous and amusing to me. I don't even know what to say to that. I just don't.

OK SO WHAT'S THE POOP - WHAT'S GOING ON AFTER DARK FOR DANIEL V?
Well, funny that you should ask. It's a scary thing because now I have been able to go out on dates - I haven't done anything for six months because I was working on the collection. It's weird because when you have that first date it's an interview finding out about each other. Now everyone has an upper hand on me because my personal life has been exposed so much. It's weird. I went on a date last week with a friend of a friend. We'd been emailing and I thought maybe he didn't know about the show. The whole thing turned out to be a facade - he wasn't who I thought he was. He wanted to know about the show and stuff, which was disheartening. Aside from him there is one boy that I am interested in - it's been 2 dates, things seem promising, but as of now I am still single. I'm just looking for someone who has their own thing going in their life.

YOU SEEM TO KEEP YOUR NOSE OUT OF THINGS ON THE SHOW. WAS THAT A CONCERTED EFFORT ON YOUR PART?
Do you really think I did? I think I involve myself where it's needed or necessary to involve myself. We're there because we're supposed to design on our own and have an independent design style and point of view. In terms of designing I stayed solo. As far as personally I made great friends on the show like Nick and even Santino - it's hard to turn your back on a friend even though you're turning against them.

I WAS LOOKING AT YOUR TAPE YOU SUBMITTED TO BE CONSIDERED ON THE SHOW THE OTHER DAY (IT'S UP ON THE RUNWAY PAGE ON THIS SITE) AND YOU ARE A DIFFERENT DANIEL V THAN WE SAW IN THAT HILARIOUS TAPE...WHAT GIVES?
I think that I was silly on that tape because I'd gone through the first part of the process and my talent had gotten me into the next level. So they hadn't seen any other side of me. It's hard to show who you are from a 3 minute interview so I figured I'd show them how ridiculous I can be, and that's what I did.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE DRESS YOU'VE DESIGNED SO FAR?
The inspiration challenge for sure, the orchid blouse with the skirt. It was one of my favorites - I think it was one of our shortest time challenges - I think we had 6 hours. I was able to trim it back and focus on what needed to be done and do just that. I thought I hit the perfect note and it turned out beautifully and captured what it needed to capture.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE SHOW SO FAR?
Man, it just kept getting better and better and better... I think my favorite time was when Heidi finally said to me "Daniel you're going to fashion week" and it became a reality. It was after her whole shpeel and you're standing there waiting to hear those words. My body just let go when I heard her say those words. It was amazing. Winning challenges was great but if you don't make it to the top three it doesn't matter...

TELL ME HOW YOU CAME OUT TO YOUR PARENTS?
It was about two years ago. I knew deep down that I would still be their son and they'd still love me but it was so hard to say the words to them out loud. I told them after we'd finished dinner one night and I just started talking for five minutes straight. The first words out of my dad's mouth were, "Daniel you know we still love you." I started crying. It was so reassuring to hear that because I'd built it up in my head so much it could have gone any way. They don't ask about my personal life but it's become more normal I guess. Now I'm trying to force it down their throat a little.

HOW HAVE THEY REACTED TO YOUR BEING ON "PROJECT RUN-GAY"?
I don't think that ever really had an impact. My mom said before the show started airing what does sexuality have to do with this show. Yet again I saw her being more accepting of it...

WAIT A MINUTE - YOU WERE AN OUT GAY GUY ON NATIONAL TELEVISION!?
My parents understand that this is my life and it's about me and they always support me. This one has taken longer for them to come around. I don't even know actually. No one in my whole extended family has said anything positive or negative. The show outed me to my entire extended family. How else would it have happened? I'm not sending out a mass email telling them I'm gay. It will be interesting to see what they say at the next family reunion. It's nice to not have a single skeleton in my closet anymore. I feel so liberated. People are connecting with me and emailing me saying that I am a role model and they feel better about coming out now that they've seen me. You forget what it's like to live in a small town.

WHERE WILL YOU WATCH THE FINALE?
I will watch the finale in my apartment with my roommates and best friends where I have watched every episode so far. Unless BRAVO is planning something amazing?

YOU HAVE GREAT PERSONAL STYLE. WHERE DO YOU SHOP?
I really shop everywhere. I like to incorporate cheapy trendy stuff from H & M with great pants from J Lindberg. I have a great vintage YSL vest I got at a vintage store and I like to pair that with a vintage Oscar de la Renta tie I got for 2 bucks. It's really about mixing and matching to find your personal style. It's about being clean and polished with a little dirt under your nails, you know.

DO I EVER DANIEL V! THANKS AND GOOD LUCK!
