What I Learned On My Vacation

Andy takes note of some great reads.

I've returned from Greece and Turkey, and back at my desk at 30 Rock, it feels like fall in NYC. The world below me is rocking and swaying; am I still on a boat? For ten days I soaked up the sun, swam miles and miles in deep blue water so full of saltwater that I bet a brick would float, and ate and drank my face off. I am getting back to a mound of work, but I know that everyone is on pins and needles wanting to know what books I read on the trip....

ATONEMENT: I flew through the Ian McEwan book and loved every page. It's about how a girl's lie shatters several generations of a family over decades in England. Can we get the movie in production now, please, before Dakota Fanning starts blooming?

THE SECRET HISTORY: I am halfway through Donna Tartt's mystery and I am still not sucked in... maybe that's because I started cheating on this book with another that drew my attention called....

TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL: The former teen idol's autobiography is so boring and without a soul that I read every single page hoping for some kind of a revelation. I have no idea how I read the whole thing but I did and with every page I grew to dislike the guy more and more. I learned that he loved horses and his kooky mama. He has aged very well.

TATLER: I think I need to subscribe to this British mag. It is cheeky and very fun to read aloud. Unfortunately this blog has been sitting in front of me in an open window on my computer for four hours and it ain't getting any better! OK, I'm jetlagged and overwhelmed with my actual day job, so why don't I get back to making some TV, shall I?
