Who The Hell Is Bruce?

Andy gives you insight on who Bruce really is.

Many, several, and some (but not none) have posted wondering who the hell my pal Bruce is. I have written about us at the Oscars, Emmys, in Paris, and at the Palm, but there's more. His great grandfather Pio Bozzi co-founded the Palm Restaurant on 2nd Avenue between 44th and 45th street in 1926. Now Bruce Bozzi, Jr. is EVP of the Palm Restaurant Group, supervising 29 Palaces of Steak across the country. He is a ton of fun and has blue eyes like diamond jacuzzis.

BRUCE, YOU ARE THE SCION OF THE PALM RESTAURANT FAMILY AND NOW SPEND MUCH OF YOUR TIME LORDING OVER ALL OF THEM. DO YOU LACE THE STEAK WITH SOME SORT OF XANAX TO GET PEOPLE COMING BACK?

Yes, we do. Andy, how am I supposed to answer that?

WELL, WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING, PALM-MANIA CONTINUES TO OVERTAKE AMERICA. AND I BET YOU'RE NEAR A PALM RIGHT NOW? DONDE ESTAS, BRUCE?

I am in Tampa, Florida, sweetie.

WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU ATE AT THE PALM AND WHEN?

Easy. Tonight I had a mixed green salad with a 12 ounce NY prime aged steak. I had hash browns, creamed spinach, and sauteed asparagus AND I had a sliver of the best carrot cake you'll ever eat and several glasses of red wine. An Italian red. Does that answer your question?

YOU SURE ARE A GROWING BOY, BRUCE.

That I am.

CAN YOU GUESS THE LAST THING I ATE AT THE PALM?

Yes. I think the last thing you ate at the Palm was.....

DONT RE-PHRASE THE QUESTION TO STALL FOR TIME!! ?YOU ARE BUSTED!!!

(laughing) You had a caesar and a surf and turf -- half lobster and half steak and plenty of red wine which explained your behavior that evening.

WELL THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT I WAS IN THE NEXT DAY, SO THAT WAS NOT THE LAST THING I ATE SMARTY.

What did you eat?

WELL I CAN'T REMEMBER IT, THAT'S WHY I WANTED YOU TO GUESS! ACTUALLY IT WAS A LOBSTER BISQUE AND CHICKEN PAILLARD, WHICH THE WESTSIDE PALM GRACIOUSLY ALLOWS ME TO ORDER OFF THE MENU.

Mmmmm!

IF A READER OF ANDY'S BLOG GOES TO THE PALM AND MENTIONS THE BLOG AND YOU, MIGHT THEY TOO BE ABLE TO ORDER THIS DISH OFF THE MENU?

Definitely.

WHAT AN AMAZING MARKETING CAMPAIGN THIS IS. WILL YOU LET ME KNOW HOW MANY PAILLARDS YOU MOVE COAST-TO-COAST? THAT'S GONNA BE A LOT OF NUMBERS TO CRUNCH!

That's what I call a lot of chicken!

YES, A LOT. REMEMBER WHEN SNL HAD THEIR WRAP PARTY AT THE PALM WHEN JENNIFER ANISTON HOSTED AND SHE AND BRAD WERE THERE? YOU GOT LIZA AND I IN. WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER FROM THAT NIGHT?

I remember that we were really excited and had cordoned off the back room for a private space. Sting was the musical guest and the bar was crazy crowded. Jennifer came with Brad Pitt and it was early on in their relationship. She signed her picture on the wall and I wanted her to sign it "To Bruce," but she didn't. That's what I remember.

WOULD YOU SAY THAT WHEN YOU SEE A PALM TREE, YOU GET WARM INSIDE?

Um, I would say I feel I have a private relationship with a palm tree.

WELL I PUT BLESSINGS ON YOUR PRIVACY, AND YOUR PRIVATE RELATIONSHIP WITH A PALM TREE.

Thank you.

THE OTHER DAY I RAN PIX OF US BY OUR FACES AT THE PALM. WHAT WAS THE DEAL THAT TIME WITH RUDY GIULIANI'S PICTURE ON THE WALL THAT WAS A SCANDAL COVERED BY THE NY POST?

I was responsible for putting up all the pictures and I didn't put he and his wife Donna Hanover's pictures together. Their woes were not public at the time and so the paper read into the fact that on the specific wall there was clearly a lot of space between their heads. There were 19 couples on the wall at the time and they were the only two that were not cheek to cheek, as they say. And when asked at the time, I said, "No comment."

SO THIS IS SOMEWHAT OF AN EXCLUSIVE STORY!

Yes, you could say that. Several years late, but yes. Dated.

WELL MADONNA AND MY FACES ARE ABOUT CHEEK TO CHEEK AT THE WESTSIDE PALM. I JUST WANT TO NOTE THAT.

Always good to note.

I HAVE WRITTEN A LOT ABOUT OUR HIJINX ON THE BLOG. I WONDER IF YOU HAVE ANY MEMORIES OF THEM THAT STICK OUT. I GUESS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF EMMY WEEKEND WAS....

Certainly "Charlie's Angels" coming out that night. The runner up being the unexpected, spontaneous hug from Paula Abdul!

OH YEAH THAT HUG WAS AMAZING. YOU VISITED THE SET OF "CHARLIE'S ANGELS" RIGHT?

I did. In 1978, season 2, to visit Cheryl Ladd and I brought Palm food to her in her trailer. I was 13. I spent the day at the Townsend Agency when Charlie called in. They were doing interiors all day. Jaclyn, Kate and Cheryl. And I was wearing cowboy boots, a blazer, and cool cords. I got pictures. Huge day on the lot of 20th Century Fox.

BEFORE WE FINISH, DO YOU WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT-OUT TO PARIS, FRANCE?

Yes!! I just want to say to Paris, France: A. January '07 Hotel Costes B. I would like to say a special hello to Stefan, Sebastian, and Benoit.

BRUCE, HOW LONG HAVE WE KNOWN EACH OTHER?

12 years -- January, '94.

SOME PEOPLE THINK WE ARE BOYFRIENDS

I think people are really thinking we should get together in season 13.

WELL, WE HAVE JOY, WE HAVE FUN, WE HAVE SEASONS IN THE SUN!

Seasons in the sun.

THANKS FOR THE TAMPA-TO-NYC EXLUSIVE INTERVIEW. HEY, DID YOU KNOW THAT ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT DRESSED MARIA MENOUNOS UP IN A FAT AND UGLY SUIT AND PUT HER OUT ON A STREET AS AN EXCLUSIVE TO SEE HOW MEAN PEOPLE WERE TO HER IN THAT FATSUIT?

No. Who's Marina Nanoonooo? Who's that woman?

GOD BLESS YOU. SEE YOU AT THE PALM. Goodnight.
