Leah Remini very publicly left the Church of Scientology two years ago. And now the former King of Queens actress, who currently stars on her own reality show It's All Relative, revealed what it's been like for her since she made that decision.
“I think the surprising part was how embraced we were by, I mean, even just the entertainment business, but just people in general," she said on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday (July 22). "It was really shocking and lovely thing to have happened. That was really most surprising because I didn’t know what was going to really happen.”
During her WWHL appearance, she also weighed in on the documentary, Going Clear, which shines a light on Scientology's practices via interviews with former members. Her response? "Accurate, accurate. And also shocking about that was I thought, ‘are people interested in this? Are people going to watch it?’ Certainly people that I know, are going to be watching it, but to see how, again, people were fascinated by the subject, and were shocked by it, scared by it.”
Since leaving Scientology, Leah confirmed she hasn't been in contact with members of it. "No, I'm allowed to be because I'm not in the church, in the organization I should say. But that is the policy of the church, which is when you leave and you leave publicly you're shunned. But, yes, that is the policy. I knew the policy existed. But because I was thinking it was different that it wasn't going to happen."
While on WWHL, Leah also shared her thoughts on if she thinks there could potentially be a Bennifer reunion.
