What a surreal weekend. When I first heard the news that Whitney died I wasn't exactly shocked, but as the hours passed I felt heavier and heavier about her loss. The only good news is that Whitney is playing everywhere. I won't ever complain about that.
In the midst of being sad, it was nuts to go to two fashion shows yesterday -- DVF and Simon Spurr. DVF is always a happening scene and it was great seeing Rachel Zoe, with straight hair and cool shades, among others. The show was great. Simon Spurr is a cool menswear designer and I sat with Brad Goreski who did play-by-play of the fashions and cute models with me. And we sat with Joe Jonas and Kellun Lutz, and I didn't have a problem with that. Not one bit.
We re-jiggered last night's show to remember Whitney and were lucky enough to already have booked Phaedra and Gloria Estefan, who both knew her in different ways. (I first met Phaedra when she was repping Bobby Brown and we were airing Being Bobby Brown.)
Here are their memories of Whitney:
Also we had Randall, of Honey Badger fame, make a great recap of the RHOA trip to Africa!
And finally, on the After Show, the ladies played Plead the Fifth!
Andy, Whitney was a great singer with her golden voice. Their isn't that many singers that have a great singing voice, so they use gimmicks like the way they dress / so your looking at them and not really listening to their voice. You know when there is a person with a great singing voice, when they can belt out a song with no music or back-up singers. To me when you have to dress in something that is either meat or your half naked / that says you can't sing that good so your using a gimmick to make people take note of you. I say learn how to sing great if you want to get paid any money..
Andy I love love love you.... thank you for all the housewifes... I hope you really do read the blogs and take to heart what your viewers are saying. I don't expect answers but please listen to us. 1. Time to replace Taylor she needs to heal and help her daughter heal 2. Kim and Kyle ok it is pretty obvious they are your favorits they just need to be a little nicer 3. OC Vicki where did she go she has changed but we do love her 4. Tamara really it like every time one of the housewives have a mean season like Jill, Camille, the next season they are soooo boring. 5. New Jersey OMG Teresa can't wait to see if she changes this season she put new meaning to "Mean Girl" Ok enough thank you Andy for letting me see just becasue there rick doesn't mean their happy
I was born on August 20,1963-11 days after Whitney Houston. Back in the 80's I had her albums and I would go to my room, close the door, turn on the stereo, take the hairbrush and start singing along with Whitney. I would play her songs over and over again and sing along, granted I had nowhere near the voice that she had. That was an instrument that was given to her by God and she made alot of people happy using that gift. I could not believe the news when my brother called me and told me to turn on the TV and when I saw those words "Whitney Houston Dies at 48" I just started to cry! It just brought back all those memories of being young and singing along to her songs. I just want to let the family know, especially her mother and daughter that they will be in my prayers and take comfort in the fact that she is now with the One who gave her that precious gift that we all enjoyed. She brought much happiness to many people and she will never be forgotten. We will all be together one day in that place where there is no pain, no suffering and no crying. Whitney thank you for sharing your gift with us. MAY GOD GRANT MERCY ON YOUR SOUL AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE! WE LOVE YOU, ALWAYS!!
Life can be so ironic, for Whitney to die the night before the Grammys, it turned out to be the best tribute to any singer ever, LL Cool J set the tone of the show, and he did great it was a beautiful thing. The show w/her and Bobby was a good expose to them together it so sad hey can you rerun that series?
The new show LOVE IT!! But the difference between reality TV peeps and real actors is interesting, with Plead the 5th the reality people who expose their lives on TV to the world seem to plead the 5th and the actors seem to answer the questions and not plead. Plus the actors almost seem stunned or shy at the beginning of the show, where reality people to them its filming something that they love to do, but you are so easy to chat with, that the actors look to be having a good time! Thanks for all the great entertainment, you never let us down!! xoxoxo
Just what the hell was that for Reunion RHOBH part 3? Are you guys on drugs? This was a total waste of my time!! Totally useless episode...
YES TRULY SAD THAT WE LOST WHITNEY WHO HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL TALENT AND WAS BLESSED WITH HER GIFT OF SONG. SAD THAT SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE ARE LOST TO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. HER CHOICES DEFINED HER DESTINY...
NOW ONTO OTHER TOPICS---ANDY---NO, NO, NO MAZEL FOR YOU---ANDY YOU NEED TO LEARN TO BE KIND TO CHRISTIANS WHO HOLD DIFFERENT VIEWS FROM YOUR OWN AND NOT ATTACK THEM---YOU WANT TO BE ACCEPTED FOR WHO YOU ARE -- BE KIND, IT'S CALLED TOLERANCE.
HERE'S WHAT I CANNOT TOLERATE--- TAYLOR, KYLE ON SEASON 3 RHOBH--- YOUR BROWN NOSING OF KYLE-- YOUR BLATANT BIAS OF RH-WIVES... IT'S GETTING OLD---YOU GIVE FREE PASSES TO AWFUL PEOPLE LIKE TAYLOR AND KYLE AND YET HOLD OTHERS IN THE HOT SEAT---SO NOT COOL.
MAZEL OF THE DAY----NOT MOCKING CHRISTIANS....REMEMBER WE ARE A CHRISTIAN NATION.....JUST SAYING.....
Andy- love you!
It seemed to me that Kim was a mess at that interview. I might be wrong but it was hard to understand. again richard sister cover up. Just saying!!
Hi Andy! I just have to say. I don't think it is working with Sandra. It's just not that funny. I like her but, I'd rather see a game or something. I have read your other blogs and from what I can see most people don't think she's funny. I tell everyone about your show and how funny it is and you are. I hope they don't give it a test run when she's on they may not come back. Plead the Fifth is great! I don't recall a drinking game las night. Please don't lose that. Your games are the best! The shotski is a riot! I'm thinking of stealing that idea!! I don't think I have a ski though. Do you think a hockey stick would do?! lol Keep making us laugh Andy! We need it!! Especially here in New England where our beloved Patriots just lost the Superbowl. We'll get em next year! Go Bruins for now!! Love ya Andy!
Andy, Why did you not call Kyle out on the things she said and did this season? I don't understand why you show this favoritism (sp). All through the season she said mean, rude and nasty things , behind others backs of course. She really has become the Jill of BH. Is there a reason you let her off the hook?
I was disappointed with the Beverly Hills reunion. Everybody piled on Lisa then denied their part in all the whining, lies, meanness, and nuttiness. I do not believe Taylor's stories-never will. You gave Kim too much time. Dana's little joke shoes summed her up completely. The fans who supported her (all 8 of them) must have been hurt. It was a dark year. Next year please have less whining. Thank you.
I NEVER post on these blogs...I have really thought only people with basically no life do! Well, I offically have no life. You supported and perpetuated attacks on Lisa and Brandi and plugged Taylor's "book" that Iam quite certain should be found in the fiction section. Losing credibility Andy...
Andy, I love you and WWHL, but please...PLEASE...stop putting Sandra Bernhard on the end of the shows. She is not funny anymore. I am 35 years old and I remember her during her prime; she was funny then. Maybe she needs new material, but I don't understand her babbling and rants. Even your paid studio hands and staff can't muster a deep throated chuckle in the background. This is embarrassing and if ever I planned on going to one of her concerts, I wouldn't after seeing her on WWHL. If you and Bravo really like her, please quit embarrassing her and gracefully do away with these bits she does at the end of the show.
I believe every word Taylor spoke about her marriage and the abuse. I was in the same type of marriage. My ex and her husband were so much alike. If you haven't walked in the shoes of an abused woman please don't judge. I admire Taylor for writing the book. It is a healing for her to do this. My marriage ended in 1982. It took until 2008 for me to tell a therapist what was done to me. The fear will always be there.
DON'T ADD BRANDI TO THE CAST OF BHHW. She has no sympathy, empathy or class. The original 5 are perfect, don't change anything Andy, please. I want to keep watching.
Andy I am a Sandra fan who saw her perform in concert and am sorry to jump on the anti-Sandra bandwagon too. Something is off. And we are having a beautiful week in Fort Lauderdale (again), it hadn't rained in 6 weeks until your visit last week.
Great WWHL honoring Whitney. And for the record, "All the Man That I Need" is my favorite Whitney song.
More importantly, what does one have to do to get tickets to WWHL? My friend and I will fetch drinks if we have to.
Whitney Houston was a great entertainer and will be missed.....
I would also like to make a comment about Bravo's Housewives series and especially the Housewives of OC, I have watched the first two episodes...this has got to be the worse of ALL Housewives series, you can tell the women are trying to create conflict especially Peggy, didn't Peggy have a mental breakdown and I am sick of All of her crying....the other Housewive series...Atlanta, Beverly Hills and the Housewives of New Jersey the women are very interesting and I have my favorites....the OC group is phoney and I really don't have a connection with any of them....who cares if Vicki has a new man in her life, or that Tamara is a witch, Gretchen and her thing with her boyfriend, these women are taking up air time, bring back Beverly Hills or New Jersey....OC is phoney...
andy i know at times it seems every body is ragging on you.do this do that.you are you.we are we.some things you do with your actions remind us of our son.just be fair.you say you do not have fav.housewives.you should be = with all.i go by what my heart fills.not ratings.when the reunion shows come up.oc i think will be around may or june.make sure you read possitive cards too.each to there own.but all need to be treated the same.i do not think people should use crude remarks.the worst i have said was trouble maker.or a few of them might need some help.rehab etc...we are not here to judge.just to watch and give are take on the shows.thanks!
Why don't the RHOA post as regularly as any of the other housewives? I mean, they have no problem promoting/plugging themselves on the show, but they never give us a real time update on what we watch episode to episode. So frustrating. I think you may need to consider a new cast who can keep up with the requirements of the gift of being a 'reality star'. Just my opinion.
I just watched last night's episode with Lil Kim. Bedazzeled lolipops? That is genious! Whoever came up with that deserves a raise! Those glasses were a riot! It looked like you couldn't see a thing yet you obviously could. Another great show Andy! Loved it!
HI Andy, Your reaction when Lil Kim said to lick her ----? I don't know what she said, but your reaction was precious! I thought you were going to faint!
Hey, Just watched the show with Joan Rivers... Loved it!! Did not channel surf once with her on. Let's try to cut back on the overrated housewives being recycled so much. Thanks again!
Hiya Dandy Andy, Last night WWHL with Joan Rivers is my fave ep. She IS the Queen of Comedy. I could watch her banter with you every night. Or she could replace Sarah Heartburn on Mondays. Great humorist still thrives on... Thanks for bringing her back for the laughs.
Andy, You are the new Late Night King! It is clear you are a fan of all things TV and that is why you are so delightful as the ringmaster on your wonderfully, watchable, fresh show. "Plead the 5th", is great. Your penetrating questions are almost better than Howard Stern's! And it is also clear you know "the real deal" with the housewives' baggage, but have a sympathetic POV when talking to them, especially the "Kim" interview. However I do think you or Bravo should get a percentage cut from all the deals the RHW are trying to generate. Sometimes the shows feel like an infomercial, instead of the original OC version that just was a simple slice of life...
I have never laughed so hard as I did with you and Joan Rivers. Great timing! She is the Queen of Comedy for sure! Would love to see Nathan Lane too when he returns to NYC.
Andy, love your clubhouse. Idea: Why not have the exotic and beautiful and intelligent Faye Resnick take Dana's place on Beverly Hills housewives next season? She has the star quality Lisa has and I recall her from the OJ trial. She and the late Dominic Dunne were fantastic during that, honest and afraid of no one.
I like Brandi, Camille, Lisa and just think Kyle, Kim and Taylor are immature, unstable trouble makers when there is so much excitement and life going on around them, why spoil it? The others keep it fun. Maybe Camille's beau can replace Maurico! I love Ken and Paul. So funny and unique. If Mauricio didn't join in Kyle abusing Kim on TV and probably did steal her house.....I would like him. But I think he is lowering himself digging at psychologically disturbed Kim. Unkind.
I feel bad Russell can't defend himself and his kids have to read about him in a book, it's sickening. Sorry. Not fair. You can't say Taylor is a stable woman, who can believe anything that comes of her mouth. Sad for anyone who gets abused, many do but not many go on a Reality show blaming everyone else and then writing a book on the deceased. As Brandi said "Let him Rest In Peace". Taylor always ruined everyone's time and stole shows crying and drinking and screaming. Didn't she accuse Kim on air last year of alcohol abuse, before her own sister called her out in a vicious limo fight.
Lets keep the ones with dignity , interesting lives, joy of life: Lisa,Brandi, Camille, add Faye Resnick and drop the trouble makers. It's fun to see Adrienne's fab house, Palm, Lisa and Ken's family and business and decor and funny personalities, Brandi's breath of fresh air and honesty. Faye would add depth and is a beautiful decorator. The lifestyles are fun to watch, not the "crawl across the table screaming drunk Taylor" or the horrific "Kyle in shredded dress in limo attacking a vulnerable sister." Dana doesn't have the right stuff. The others keep it interesting enough. Hate to say it but it would be funny to see Cedric as a life coach. He was cute, maybe he can apologize to Ken and Lisa? I'd rather watch him than Taylor, Kyle or Dana. And Kim should just heal in private, the show is too much pressure for her and I'm sure Kyle knew it. Don't trust Kyle or Taylor, too fake. Love you and Giggy and the ones mentioned above.
I guess all in all re: Beverly Hills
Keep the caviar: Lisa, Brandi, Camille, Adrianne, add Faye Resnick who made really interesting and funny visits.
Lose the jelly fish (poisonous, see through, spineless, prone to attack): Taylor, Kyle , Dana.
Bravo Please Post My Comment. Thank You. Andy, I love Joan as a comedian, but I found her to be so hypocritical. When her husband committed suicide and somebody made a joke about him killing himself Joan was so offended. I was disappointed to hear that she will make jokes about Whitney because Whitney has a young daughter, mother and brother(s) that will be grieving for a long time. I believe that substance abuse of anything is a disease and it shouldn't be joked about today especially when that person is still alive and when they have children and parents that are still alive. It is very hurtful.
Mazel Andy for honoring the great, great Whitney Houston! One of our truly greatest and talented singers of ALL time. So glad you honored her on your show! Loved, loved, loved Joan Rivers on WWHL - what a great comedic legend and genius. It was fun to watch you two together and your expressions were priceless. Gotta love her (and of course you)! Re: RHOBH - could NOT believe Lisa had skin cancer and that was edited out, and yet we continually saw the drama with Taylor - a bit shocked. Also, clearly the viewers are missing things with Adrienne and Lisa's feud (well, actually it looks like Adrienne's)...would have liked to see more behind the scenes of what actually happened, cause as a viewer it didn't make sense at all to see Adrienne be so mean to Lisa at the reunion (and then during the lost episode, Adrienne again states "Lisa stirs the pot". Lisa wasn't even there. What the heck is going on? Anyway, congrats Andy, you are doing fabulous, and I even enjoyed Lil Kim, who I was never fan of - you bring out the best in your guests (well, except Joe Gorga). xo
I think you need to be more cautious about who you are booking on WWHL after RHOA...the night is already ghetto enough w/out adding Jackee in the mix. Seriously, leave this crap to BET.
Andy....love, love ,love you! Jackee was your Most obnoxious guest of all. All her screaming gave me a headache. It is also time to let Sandra Bernhardt go....she is not funny.
Just a thought on Whitney, I saw a picture of Clive Davis with a young Whitney in People. He is the same man that axed Kelly Clarkson and has made it so hard for her in the music business. If the old men would leave the young stars alone and quit trying to do things the old way than the world of music could move forward. Whitney appears to have been given about 10 good years and through mismanagment got axed in the "good ole boy club" Now whether that was a black white thing, a sexual thing or a whose the boss thing I don't know. But it cut a wonderful talent life short and that is why she was on drugs. Personal issues aside, the woman was getting the door shut by the old men in the club.
Dearest Dandy -Andy, I miss your updates. What's happened to your comments? WWHL has been fun. Joan Rivers was my fave guest (and then Brandi, Lisa and Tamra). I agree with Skylark's remarks about the BH misses and hits. Taylor's duck lips spew story after story and not very convincingly. She told that convoluted story of "tough guy" Russell overtaking a male friend twice, "He hit the man several times over the head, but first threw him in the pool with his wife and dog while trying to kill me!" Oh, puh-lease! How could you let that tale go without any doubt? It was laughable. Please dump her and Dana too. As for RHOC, I'm confused about one character: Is Slade the 6th housewife? He certainly is given plenty of camera time while he endlessly complains about all the ladies who done him wrong. He seems like Simon VanKempen's jealous brother. Please pull him back into his small corner. Who cares what HE feels? He's sub par at best. Thanks for listening. Love you. xo.
Have you guys considered Real Housewives shows in other areas? How about in New Hampshire! Things will no-doubt be different from Beverly Hills, but the drama is universal! We have some great ideas and a great group of women with varying backgrounds who will surly supply great TV. Please contact me if you are interested in hearing more. ( Think "Modern Family" marries "Real Housewives" )
We have an interesting take on things and I hope to hear from you.
RHW of Boston would be something else. The criteria should be as follows: 1. North of Boston (the accent) 2. Wealthy (old money, new money...the lottery, even better, ahhaha.)
Just a thought... Love you Andy...your brilliant, and hilarious...love that I can see you 5 days a week! kisses!!
Andy: LOVE LOVE Watch What's Happening...Just the right amount of light-weight fun and goofiness at the end of the day (and thanks for being on 5 nights!). I enjoy the broad range of guests and the way you mix people together you normally wouldn't see with each other. You get some big names! I get a hoot out of the silly games and Plead the Fifth. Even the prizes are fun. The biggest appeal is that, even though there's some "structure", the atmosphere is low-key, informal, and somewhat spontaneous. You do a fantastic job at creating this mood and keeping things moving while simultaneously going with the flow when the unexpected is entertaining. Unfortunately, Sandra Bernhardt is a big detraction from the overall charm of this 30 minutes. She's not funny. Moreover, she does a planned, pre-prepared set that is clearly read from a teleprompter. Just out of character of the rest of the show's format. I turn the program off when she comes on now, and that's so not what I want to do. (Usually, I'm sorry the 30 mins. is over so soon!) Please let her go do something else that's not on this show. Please. Otherwise, MAZEL!!
