AGE: 30

Kymia graduated with a BFA from East Carolina University in 2003 and went on to study at the University of Florida. After receiving her MFA in 2006, Kymia left the south and moved to New York City to pursue her passion of the arts. Since, she has earned several prestigious residencies and awards for her art including Swing Space with LMCC (2009, 2007), Nominee and Fellowship with the Aljira Emerge 10 Program (2008), NYFA Grant and Fellowship (2009), and visiting artist and lecturer at Westchester Community College (2010). Kymia was recently invited to be a panelist for the 2011 NYFA fellowships for printmaking, drawing, and book arts. With works that have been showcased in prestigious spaces including the Brooklyn Art Library and the Queens Museum International Biennale, Kymia is proving to be an ambitious and determined young artist. She currently works as a waitress to make ends meet, but seeks to engage herself in art full-time.
