Season 1
Immediately after my studio visit, I took the last flight to London to conduct an auction there the next day. I therefore never saw the gallery show and had no idea how the two groups and the individual artists had reacted to the pandemonium I must have created by asking them all to seriously reconsider their initial approach to this challenge. I was therefore particularly curious to watch this episode.
Like you I was completely MYSTIFIED by why the artists didn't seem to get the concept of MOVEMENT...OMG, is there a place more vibrantly moving in a million directions than NYC??????? I loved Bayete's piece and was glad to see him win with it. I truly feel for Kathryn and agree that for all the artists, being on tv is an act of bravery because what we get as viewers is just a slice of the "real" artists--no one wants to be remembered for their emotional breakdown. I did find her previous work intriguing. Clearly, Kathryn's self-proclaimed obsession with her current form of artwork is directly resultant from her health condition and perhaps continuing with it could be therapeutic and help her move past it. On the other hand, obsessing over it puts so much energy into creating more of it, perhaps she would benefit from forcing herself to think about/consider and act on some other impulses, subject matter and imagery.
Maybe the fact that you have so little interaction makes the time you do spend with the artists much more striking to the viewers....
Enjoyed your RHBH rendition! Too funny! Thanks for sharing it with us...M in GP
