Gregg Butler was born and raised in Solon, Ohio a suburb east of Cleveland. At a young age Gregg was a regionally recognized track athlete while simultaneously working as a musician, earning a name as one of the Midwest's best new talent. As a teenager, he became a youth fitness instructor at a local gym, entering training at only 17 years old. As Gregg moved from the track to the gym, he got involved in power lifting and provisionally set a squat record of 715 lbs under the tutelage of Kevin Hill. After attending Miami University in Oxford, OH on a full track scholarship, Gregg moved to Los Angeles to continue to pursue his goals. While making leaps and bounds in the music industry, Gregg always kept his foot in the fitness world. These days Gregg has been playing keyboards more than ever and says that his life consists of full-time music and training. He is devoting as much time as possible to helping people consider and pursue a passion for their own bodies. He himself has lost almost 30 pounds since last season and he doesn't have that "power lifter" build like he used to. He's been eating lean and running. Gregg's personality in the gym continues to be peaceful and patient, understanding that the gym is cathartic, therapeutic and life changing for his clients and not just another quick fix. However, he's in for a surprise when he is faced with having to deal with an extremely challenging Skylab client in this upcoming season.
Gregg's Fitness beliefs: Gregg sees fitness as part art and part science. Understanding not just the mechanics of exercise, but its purpose and functionality to you, will make a workout more real, more effective and most importantly, catered to the individual, allowing true lifestyle change to begin.
