Why Below Deck Med's Captain Sandy Yawn Doesn’t Eat Fish — and Could Even Go Vegan

The Below Deck Mediterranean yacht captain knows too much.

How Captain Sandy Yawn Got Into Yachting

You might think that a yacht captain, who spends such extended periods at sea, might naturally be inclined toward a seafood diet. But not so for Below Deck Mediterranean's Captain Sandy Yawn, who told The Feast that she avoids eating fish almost entirely.

How to Watch

"I did drive a Sea Shepherd vessel for a little bit," she told us, referring to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society marine conservation nonprofit org. "So I’m very conscious about what I eat. And I try not to eat fish, because of the awareness of what’s happening to our planet."

And although Sandy may not eat fish, she's not living a fully plant-based life — at least not yet. As a new resident of Los Angeles, having moved to the health-minded city in February, Sandy said, "There's a lot of vegan here. I could become a vegan."

She pointed to a couple of her favorite restaurants in L.A. — including high-profile vegan eateries Gracias Madre and Crossroads Kitchen — and gushed over the cuisine: "Oh my god, I love [Crossroads Kitchen] restaurant!"

Sandy says she's also hitting more omnivorous places to see and be seen in Los Angeles. "I'm new so everyone’s taking me to the restaurants to see people. So, Dan Tana's... and Craig's."

And of course Craig's had to make the list — it's Bravolebrities' absolute favorite place to dine in town after all!
