Nico Scholly is playing with fire this season of Below Deck. Aside from starting a feud with his new bosun, E.J. Jansen, his growing closeness to Valor's second stew, Brianna Adekeye, toes the line between harmless and questionable. While the lead deckhand maintains a relationship with his girlfriend who is back home, things between him and Brianna have gotten pretty flirtatious. However, don't expect to catch Brianna writing "Nico + Bri = Forever" in the sand. In her recent visit to the podcast, After Deck with Kate Chastain, Bri told Kate her attraction to Nico is nothing more than a result of "cabin fever."
"I see it more as a little boat fling," Bri explained to kate. "A boat fling for me is something to pass the time by. If you have to spend so long on a boat for a period of time, you need something." Kate explained to listeners that it's common for yachties working in tight quarters together, as the crew of Valor does, to start developing crushes to make the time pass faster.
Kate did press Bri more on the subject and pointed out she said early in the season that she wouldn't get in the way of Nico and his girlfriend, however, she doesn't seem to make the long-distance part of their relationship easy. Bri defended herself and said Nico didn't talk much about his girlfriend to her throughout the charter season. "He really didn't mention her at all. With me, I mean you know at the very beginning. If anything, a few times he mentioned she's not that serious."
When Kate asked Bri what attracts her to Nico, she admitted she finds him "adorable," but that off the boat, he's not really her type. "I can't say I would go after him in land life," she said. At least they'll always have their time together on a mega yacht in the Carribean.
