Amy Schumer's Best Looks, Ever
She's no trainwreck on the red carpet.
It's Amy Schumer's 35th birthday! And before we hit play on the Trainwreck DVD—which obviously needs to happen today—let's acknowledge the birthday girl's style. All kidding aside, Schumer has been killing it on the red carpet with bold colors and sleek silhouettes. And, she knows just how to style her full, golden locks. (Little bit of hair envy. Can you tell?) Let's review.
According to Amy's stylist Leesa Evans (who was also the costume designer for Trainwreck), the star likes it sleek and simple when it comes to fashion. "She’s sort of an uncomplicated person in a lot of ways, so she loves something that’s effortless," Evans told Yahoo! Style around the time of Trainwreck's 2015 release.
For an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in April, Schumer wore a two-tone dress by Victoria, Victoria Beckham, along with bright-orange kicks by Christian Louboutin.
And for a Late Night With Seth Meyers appearance, she wore a red, long-sleeve mini dress with strappy sandals. "The more streamlined pieces just started to feel really effortless, they were easy for her to wear while walking the red carpet," Evans also said.
For the Trainwreck premiere in Australia last summer, Schumer wore a white, Halston Heritage column gown with black, strappy shoes.
She also had a loose braid created by her haristylist, Kim Gueldner.
For Trainwreck's New York premiere, Amy kept it simple in all black—but added a bit of edge with that striking, er, side view. The headline-grabbing dress was by Dion Lee.
In general, Schumer (wisely) picks red-carpet dresses that she won't feel the need to tug on. "She comes across as feeling good about herself and excited to be there," Evans told Elle. "There's no awkward tugging because...she's always been that person who's interested in comfort." Amen, Amy, amen. For the 2015 Emmy Awards, she wore a blue dress by Zac Posen.
Amy's makeup artist Andréa Tiller works to play up the comedian's dark-blue eyes. Remember in Amy's acceptance speech, when she thanked "the girl who gave me this sort of smoky eye?" Yep, that was Tiller.
And for this year's Golden Globes, Amy wore a black-and-white, off-the-shoulder gown by Prabal Gurung. Tiller also played up her eyes for this look, telling Elle she used the Sephora Collection Colorful 5 Eyeshadow Palette in No1 Uptown to Downtown Smoky.
For the Met Gala in May, Amy wore a slightly edgier look by Alexander Wang. The red dress had chain-link straps and cutouts; Amy toted along a studded bucket bag, also by Wang.
And before we go, take one more look at Amy as Sonja. (In a straw hat that she said made her look "like Honey Boo Boo.") You're welcome.
