Love letters that he wrote to Alexandra McNear, who he dated long distance from 1982 to 1984, are now in the permanent collection at the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library at Emory University in Atlanta. They're ostensibly there to give insight into the mind of a future president when it comes to issues he was passionate about then and now, but his obvious affection for Alexandra in the letters has us swooning.
“I trust you know that I miss you, that my concern for you is as wide as the air, my confidence in you as deep as the sea, my love rich and plentiful. Love, Barack,” he writes, according to PEOPLE.
Though the content of these letters have now been made public, you have to be a scholar or student to make an appointment to see them in the sizzling flesh at Emory.
