Beauty And The Geek: Hollywood Women And The Tech Moguls They Love

Beauty And The Geek: Hollywood Women And The Tech Moguls They Love

Attracted to brains...and money.

By Delaina Dixon

These days, many top actresses and athletes are bypassing fellow A-listers, rockers, and rappers to find love with guys who fill their time with binary codes and Internet memes.

Just look at tennis super great Serena Williams. Last December, she announced that she was engaged to Alex Ohanian, co-founder of the social engagement site Reddit. And just last month, the tennis champ posted an awesome shot showing that she and Alex were expecting their first child.

“They are the new type of business mogul,” declares matchmaker Susan Trombetti of Exclusive Matchmaking. “They are the smart, tech-savvy guys who rule the world and came out of nowhere to be highly respected business icons in an unlikely, nontraditional way. They have a creativeness which brings nerdiness in vogue, causing us to appreciate them more.” In the case of Serena and Alex, they are from “different worlds, which is why opposites attract,” she points out.

Susan also says that some of the guys may feel as if they’ve finally made it to the cool table as well. “I’m sure some of them have been treated like geeks all their life, so now to be welcomed into the club when the middle school girls used to shun them feels great. It's a win-win for both.”

A tech guy is a great catch, Susan adds. “They are so creative and fun to date. Occasionally, they speak too much jargon, but wow, don't you just love a man who can change your life with technology? He can fix all your electronics, hook up your blue tooth and navigate all the cool online apps.”

Here are other gals who have found love with their own brainy hunks.

Miranda Kerr and Evan Thomas Spiegel

The Victoria’s Secret Angel hasn’t just found love with the billionaire co-founder of Snapchat, the two got engaged last June, and they married over the weekend at their Los Angeles home. They met in 2014, and while it seems they may have been polar opposites, both have an affinity for style and fashion, and Evan loves being a stepdad to Miranda’s 5-year-old son with ex Orlando Bloom.

Amber Heard and Elon Musk

After Amber Heard’s horrific and public divorce from Johnny Depp, she began dating Elon, a tech billionaire. The CEO of Tesla cars had been asking Amber out for years, but she always said no. Once she was single, Elon launched a months-long campaign to woo her, even giving her a TESLA to win her over, one report says. Amber just recently confirmed their relationship by posting a pic of them dining together on her Instagram account. However, Susan cautions this pairing, “We know why he likes her. She’s a beautiful girl and he’s a very rich man – as long as he doesn’t see her as a trophy.”

Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen

Allison must love a man with a sense of humor. She married the co-founder of CollegeHumor, a popular online destination for a daily giggle. The couple tied the knot in 2015 (Tom Hank officiated). Ricky actually proposed to her while watching The Bachelor– the two had grown close during weekly screening parties.

Emma Watson and William Mack Knight

The Harry Potter alum has been mum about her personal life, but word on the street is that she’s been involved with William Mack Knight for nearly two years. William, a self-described “tech/entrepreneurship enthusiast, has worked as a senior manager at Medallia Professional Services, a company that sells software that processes customer feedback for businesses. The duo loves spending time together in New York City, exploring its neighborhoods or taking in some theater. “She is a smart young woman that values more than Hollywood,” Susan says.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tasha McCauley

Yes, this actor found love with a brainy tech woman! Tasha is a technology entrepreneur and VP GeoSim Systems, which creates virtual models of cities. Joseph and Tasha, who married in December 2014, are currently awaiting the birth of their second baby. “She is smart and different from the Hollywood world, just like George and Amal Clooney,” Susan says.
