Chris Rock’s divorce from wife Malaak is finally official.
The two split in 2014 after 20 years of marriage, and appeared in a New Jersey courtroom Monday to finalize the divorce details, reports TMZ.
The 51-year-old comic and Malaak, who works with charities, have two daughters Lola Simone, 14 and Zahra Savanna, 12. The duo also raised eight-year-old Ntombi, who the couple took care of since she six months old and in divorce papers, Malaak listed her as a dependent along with the Rock’s two biological daughters.
In 2015 Page Six reported that Malaak was demanding a huge chunk of her husband’s $70 million fortune “so she can maintain a Champagne-and-caviar lifestyle.” Their prenup expired under a sunset clause, which is why the divorce went to court.
The two met at the Essence Awards while she was working in public relations. She soon gave up her career and became a full-time mother, court papers say. The two now have 50-50 child custody.
The divorce case is sealed so it is not known what settlement was reached, although Chris has joked recently at the Comedy Cellar in New York that Malaak “took half.” He’s said publicly that the split left him feeling “sad outta your f- -king mind.”
He is now dating 33-year-old actress Megalyn Echikunwoke, but has said he will not marry again. Megalyn has had recurring roles in 24, and CSI Miami.
