Congrats, Amazon Says You're Pregnant - Oh, And Here's Your Baby Present!

Don’t know you’re pregnant? Amazon think you are LOL.

The online site for literally everything has been emailing customers alerts telling them someone had bought an item off their baby registry. Only problem is, they’re not expecting—a baby or a gift.

On Tuesday, a number of customers were informed that they had received gifts from their baby registry, which they never had in the first place.

"A gift is on the way" read the email, which was impersonally addressed to "Amazon Customer."

The email also included a link to remind the recipient to “view their thank you list.” They were then directed to a page to set up another baby registry. Now it’s two babies?

To diffuse any confusion, the email also showed a baby crawling along.

An Amazon spokesperson said a technical glitch caused the company to "inadvertently send a gift alert e-mail earlier today," and that Amazon was alerting affected customers. Whoops.

Still, come were alarmed that it was a phishing attempt to gain their credit card info. A

“A technical glitch caused us to inadvertently send a gift alert e-mail earlier today,” an Amazon spokesperson confirmed. “We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”
