Dogtoberfest Is Basically Halloween for Dogs

Raising money for charity has never been cuter.

That's it — we're renaming the month Dogtober and dubbing it the most wonderful time of the year for four-legged friends in need! Last Saturday in Austin, Tex., thousands of dogs and owners showed up in their Halloween gear for the city's annual Dogtoberfest. The festival raises money for local dog rescue organizations and over the last nine years, they have accumulated over $250,000!

The festival is broken down into two events: DogtoberTROT, a 1k walk to kick off the festivities, and then Dogtoberfest, which happens right after. The annual event has every activity you could want including a canine costume contest, wiener dog races, pet portraits and more!

This year’s local dog rescue recipients are Austin Boxer Rescue, Austin Dog Rescue, Austin German Shepherd Rescue, Austin Sheltie Rescue, Hound Rescue, Texas Husky Rescue, Texas Sweeties Dog Rescue and Wee Rescue.

Check out some cuties we snapped at the party!
