Einstein the African grey parrot doesn’t want a cracker. She wants to entertain. The Zoo Knoxville resident not only has a robust vocabulary (over 200 words!), but she also can perform the majority of them on cue.
Einstein rose to prominence (okay, relative prominence, we’re talking bird fame, not Kardashian fame) in 2006 after winning on Animal Planet’s Pet Star—and the next thing she knew, she had her own TED Talk where she got to impress none other than Al Gore.
And now, in celebration of her 30th Hatch Day (that’s “birthday” in bird speak), Einstein has performed over 100 of her best impressions—everything from a spaceship to a horse to a fart noise to a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. (Be patient—she really starts going around the :40 second mark.)
With all due respect to Alec Baldwin, how soon can we get this parrot on Saturday Night Live?
