Geode Hair Is Instagram's Latest Dye Craze—Just Try To Stop Staring At The Pics
This wild, pretty trend is about to take over your feed.
Emma Roberts made "smoky quartz" hair a thing, and the rock-inspired hair hues are just beginning. Suddenly, the color everyone's talking about is "geode." You know geodes: they're those gorgeous rocks that have sparkling crystals inside. Here's one being used as an air plant holder, but you get the message:
These magical-looking rocks have inspired dye jobs that use iridescent hues to mimic the patterns of crystals found in rocks. Los-Angeles-based stylist Cherin Choi, who's credited with spreading the trend, explained the process to Refinery29.
Cherin lightens her clients' hair to a blondish white before applying amethyst-purple dye onto the middle sections, and adding moonstone blue to the tips. Then, she emulsifies the colors using her hands and a brush. In other words: We should all leave this one to the pros.
