Giuliana Rancic Dishes on Emmys Fashion and Working With NeNe Leakes

Like the rest of us, Giuliana's an Olivia Pope—and NeNe Leakes—fangirl.

When we caught up with Giuliana Rancic at Macy's on State Street, E!'s resident fashion expert had weather on the brain. She'll be in Los Angeles on Sunday to chat with TV royalty for E! Live From the Red Carpet 2016 Emmys, and said that her dress selection may depend on the day's forecast.

"Lo and behold, this Sunday it’s going to be 91 degrees in L.A.," the Chicago-based TV personality and author said. "It's going to be really hot. It always is. It never fails. That dictates [my dress choice] a little bit in the sense that if it’s going to be so hot and so sunny, I don’t want to wear anything too heavy, or else I’m going to be uncomfortable. And if it's too dark, it won’t really go with that feel of the red carpet. But of course, today I tried on this great, beaded, dark gown with sleeves."

Her final dress selection will be made on Saturday—yep, one day before the big event. "I’m still deciding [on a dress]," she told The Lookbook on Thursday. "This is the most challenging year in terms of getting ready for the Emmys because I don’t live in L.A. this year—I live in Chicago. My stylist, who’s in L.A., has like 10 more [dresses] there that she just got today and will be getting more today and tomorrow. I said, 'Let’s not risk shipping them. Let’s just do a fitting on Saturday morning, bright and early. We’ll work on alterations on Saturday and have [the dress] early Sunday. I like that though. It keeps it exciting."

For other awards shows, the Fashion Police star has done a costume change. But this year, she'll only have seven minutes to move from her position on the countdown show to her spot for Live From the Red Carpet. "I’ve actually changed in less time at the Grammys because I go right behind a little curtain that’s right on the red carpet," she reveals. "We don’t have that luxury this time. I would’ve had to go to the hotel room and we don’t have time." We can't wait to see if Giuliana settles on the dark, beaded gown, or goes for an entirely different look on Sunday. And while we style-crush on her, she'll be doing the same for some of TV's leading ladies.

"Amy Schumer always looks great on the red carpet. She loves dressing up. I can’t wait to see what she's wearing," Giuliana says. "Kerry Washington always looks fantastic. She loves fashion. Sophia Vergara always just has so much fun on the red carpet."

She's also excited to meet up with her Fashion Police costars—including Ms. NeNe Leakes—to hash out all the Emmys fashion for Monday's episode. "[NeNe] is quick witted, so sharp, so funny," Giulana gushes. "So many of the people who watch the show agree with NeNe and just love having her on the show. She’s been a great, great addition."
