Guess How Many Pounds of Salmon, Caviar and Crab the Stars Ate at the Oscars After-Party

Forget the red carpet: The place to be was at the Governors Ball because...5000 bottles of booze?!

By The Feast Staff

Superstar chef Wolfgang Puck was a very, very busy man in the days, hours and minutes leading up to the Oscars and the official Governors Ball after-party, which he has catered for the past 22 years. The famed chef and his team pulled off a mind-blowing array of foods and drinks, in quantities that make you wonder how stars managed to stay inside their slim-fitting bespoke suits and figure-hugging dresses. Here's just a partial rundown of what the more than 1500 celebs and guests had to choose from—proving that no, stars are not like us:

15 pounds of black truffles
10 kg of American farm-raised caviar
350 pounds of house-smoked salmon
1,000 stone crab claws
300 pounds of Snake River Wagyu short ribs
1,000 grilled cheese sandwiches
6,500 pieces of wood-fired flatbreads shaped like Oscars
1,500 quail eggs
300 whole Jidori chickens
175 pounds of Parmigiano Reggiano
800 figs
100 pounds signature blend prime chuck

But wait, that's not all. There was booze too:

2,400 bottles of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne
2,700 bottles of Sterling Vineyards wines
130 bottles of Haig Club single-grain Scotch whisky

And dessert:

10 gallons of housemade banana ice cream
1,000 homemade mini cookies
6,000 mini homemade brioche buns
30 pounds of edible gold dust
7,000 miniature chocolate Oscars
5 pounds of homemade hot fudge

We know what you're thinking: Only five pounds of hot fudge? Scandalous. But we're guessing that the 2000 pounds (that would be 1 ton) of luxe 70 percent Fleur de Cao Cacao Barry chocolate provided a tiny bit of consolation.
