Alessandra Ambrosio looks good in everything. Case in point: whether she’s casually rocking jeans and a sweater, a LBD, or the new Victoria’s Secret Angel Max Sport Bra, it’s obvious that the flawless 36-year-old is in tip-top shape.
As Ambrosio was gearing up for the brand’s famous runway show, the Brazilian bombshell showed The Lookbook a thing or two about how to properly Train Like An Angel. The model momma knows that diet and exercise are key to maintaining a fit physique.
When we caught up with her in New York City, at the Tracy Anderson studio, we had to know what her fitness routine entails and everything she’s eating — as well as those guilty pleasures (ahem, cupcakes and French fries) she gives up… well, eats less of.
She even revealed what all the VS angels eat after the show wraps. Because, No. 1: it’s delicious and No. 2: it’s tradition.

What's your weekly workout routine like?
Alessandra Ambrosio: I have been working with Tracy for last couple years, and what I love about her classes that it does not feel like exercise. It’s almost like taking a fun dance class that targets all of your muscle groups, and you get amazing results... [The classes] are usually around 1 hour, and I try to go at least 4-5 times a week.
Do you have a workout buddy?
I usually work out alone or with my friends that live in Los Angeles.
How do you stay fit while traveling?
The great part [about Tracy's classes] is that she also has online classes, so when I travel, I am able to work out in my hotel room.
What's the best exercise and diet advice you received from another Victoria’s Secret angel?
We all discuss our workout routines when we are together right before the show. Since we are all different, we have different routines, but we all make sure to keep hydrated and eat nutritious meals.
How has your exercise routine and diet changed in the past 10 years?
Before I had my kids, I didn’t really work out, but now I make sure to work out at least 4 times a week and also do a lot fun outdoors activities, like beach volleyball, swimming, or going on a hike.
What are you doing diet-wise to stay in shape?
It all depends on the day and if I am working on set or working from home. For breakfast, I usually have eggs and/or avocado toast. After my workout, I usually grab a green juice, followed by lunch, where I usually have a salad along with some chicken or fish. For dinner, I might go for sushi, or grill at home — some Brazilian BBQ. I also have some nuts or a protein bar in my bag all the time in case I get hungry while I am running around.
Do you have a favorite guilty pleasure food or cheat day meal?
I love cupcakes and French fries. Months leading up to the show, I usually don’t only eat both of these foods — only once or twice a week.
Are there any foods you don't eat leading up to the runway show?
Not really. I just make sure to eat healthier versions of the food and smaller portions.
What's the first indulgent food you eat after the big runway show?
Usually after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, all of us girls get together and eat pizza. Our pizza parties have become a tradition.
