Beauty lovers let out a collective gasp when Katie Holmes revealed a new pixie cut last week. After all, the actress has had her signature, shoulder-length tresses for quite some time now — and it's not every day she goes under the shears.
The new look undeniably suits Holmes, who's serving Audrey-Hepburn vibes with the gamine style. But, it actually wasn't the Breakfast at Tiffany's star who inspired Holmes to chop it all off.
In a new interview with People, the actress shared the inspiration behind the cropped style. "It’s for a role. I’m getting ready to play a woman in a movie called The Doorman,” Holmes revealed. “She’s an ex-Marine and she’s a warrior."
Holmes has been hitting the gym, in addition to the salon, to prepare for the part. "I’m excited. I’m training. I’m sore,” she told the mag.
Celebrity stylist DJ Quintero is responsible for Holmes' new hairstyle, and said that he worked with the star to create a coif that's equal parts fetching and fierce. "We were trying to find a balance between something feminine but kickass cause she’s working really hard — her body looks incredible," the stylist said.
