Kendall Jenner’s Brows Will Make You Look Younger

The new it brow is straighter and fuller.

We readily admit to being Kardashian/Jenner super fans. From TiVo-ing the early KUWTK days to sending most texts with a Kimoji, our fan game for all the girls is strong. But, we’ve always loved Kendall’s chic style and flawless makeup in particular. And these days, she’s been sporting a straighter, fuller brow that's entirely different from her sisters’ style.

In good company with other eyebrow standouts like Cara Delevingne, Keira Knightley, and even Audrey Hepburn, the straight brow has been taking the world by storm in the last year. We talked to three makeup and eyebrow professionals to get their take on straight brows, what face shape they look good on, and how to achieve the look yourself at home.

Celebrity eyebrow specialist Elke Von Freudenberg told us: “I get about four out of five requests for the straight brow. It's very popular in Singapore and Thailand and the orient as it signifies a more youthful appearance. It works great on those with a very strong, angular bone structure. A stronger bone structure is needed to balance the straight, harsher line of the straight brow. A more feminine face, with softer, rounder cheekbones and a weak chin etc would have the brow dominate the look and not work as well. It would be too bold or overpowering for the face.” So, if you have a round or heart-shaped face with round features, try the Kim Kardashian rounded brow instead.

Von Freudenberg suggested to test-run the brow first, before grabbing your tweezers. Start by using your favorite brow pencil to sketch in hair below your natural arch to create a straight line on the bottom of your brow. Then use your concealer to lightly cover your arch until you have a straight line from inner brow to the end of your arch. This will give you a good idea of how the straight brow will look on your face—without needing to hide at home till your brows grow back.

Once you are ready to take the plunge, Celebrity makeup artist Ramy Gafni says: “The way to achieve a straight brow is to not remove any eyebrow hairs below the peak of the brow, where the brow bone protrudes the most, and do remove a little hair from above the brow by the arch in order to straighten the brow line. Make sure the line of your brows from under the brow are a straight line—no curving—from the front of the brow to the peak.” He also said: “On people over thirty, the straight brow can be aging because an arch gives the eyes a visual lift and also adds expression. This looks works best on someone young who’s brows, like Kendall’s, tend to be naturally straight.”

If you’re still growing out your brows from one too many overdone wax jobs, it may be more difficult to get the straight brow look. Makeup artist Jessika Bekteshi says “For women with thinner brows, achieving this look could be a little trickier, but not impossible. I like to use Anastasia Dip Brow or a powder to get the right shape and look for the brow. Then, I go back in with a super-thin brow pencil like Kimiko Beauty’s Super Fine Brow Pencil. With the pencil, you can give it a more natural look and since the pencil strokes are so thin, they will look like hair.”
