Khloe Opens Up About Lamar

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom officially closed the chapter on their marriage last December when their divorce was finalized. And now his 17-year-old daughter, Destiny, is shedding some light on their marriage and how it impacted her relationship with her dad.

Destiny wrote about that time in her dad's life in an essay titled Surviving A Father’s Addiction: Lamar Odom’s Family Speaks Out featured in PEOPLE/Entertainment Weekly (PEN) series. She writes that "things changed when my dad married Khloe. Things were a lot more public... When your dad’s an NBA player that’s already enough, but when he’s marrying a reality TV star, things are so public and you don’t have a private life anymore."

She recalls being a big fan of Keeping Up With the Kardashians before her dad started his relationship with Khloe. “It was crazy that my dad was getting married to this woman that I used to watch religiously,” she said. “It was such a whirlwind, really.”

Destiny also reveals that the marriage and his addiction issues caused a rift between her and her dad. She said, “I wouldn’t say it was a matter of my dad loves Khloe more than me. I think that my dad has an addictive personality so my dad was addicted to the attention he got with Khloe."

While Khloe and Lamar had separated before his overdose in 2015, the reality star was by his side following the incident, and Destiny noted that “a lot of people in our circle were confused... Their relationship is very toxic.”
