Ever since Lena Dunham shocked fans by announcing she had rehomed her beloved dog, Lamby, people have been questioning her suitability for dog ownership.
Lena insists that her rescue poodle Lamby had an abusive past and that she did all she could to help with the dog’s behavioral issues, but Brooklyn’s BARC Shelter (which adopted Lamby out) clapped back, claiming that the dog “wasn’t crazy” at the time of adoption.
Lena, of course, responded in kind on Instagram, saying, “It's come to my attention that the staff at the shelter where I adopted Lamby have a very different account of his early life and behavioral issues than I do. While I'm sorry to have disappointed them, I can't apologize.”
While the back-and-forth continues, Lena has two other dogs to attend to: poodles Karen D’Amango and Susan Simmons. The pups are reportedly not rescue dogs: While there is no confirmation, Lena has never mentioned their adoption—a stark contrast from her vocal support for the shelter she rescued Lamby from—and she also hasn't responded to fans accusing her of buying from a breeder.
While the dogs may not get the same Instagram exposure as Lamby once did, Lena did once bring them on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to introduce them to the world.
The now 1-year-old poodles live with Lena and her boyfriend Jack Antonoff in New York City, where they are frequently seen on family walks.
