Young-adult dystopian adventure movie superfans, this is for you! (Everyone else — perhaps not so much.)
South Korea's first international amusement park, which is currently in development, is building zones especially to delight fans of the Twilight and The Hunger Games movements. Lionsgate Movie World at the Jeju Shinhwa World resort is expected to debut in 2019 on a 1.3-million-square-foot property.
Each area of Lionsgate Movie World is expected to consist of a combination of 4D-modeled streets and towns, rides, live entertainment, and cafes. There will also be zones dedicated to the Woody Harrelson film Now You See Me, and the studio's forthcoming blockbuster Robin Hood, which will be released in March 2018.
Jeju Shinhwa World is already partially open and includes luxury properties like the Four Seasons and the Somerset, alongside upscale resort condos and villas. They'll be adding more attractions like a waterpark, casino, and entertainment center dedicated to Korean pop music over the next few years, so there should be plenty to do there by the time Lionsgate Movie World opens.
Hunger Games star (and survivor of harrowing travel) Jennifer Lawrence has been known to enjoy rollercoasters, but it has yet to be seen whether she'll be on hand to give any of these rides a twirl.
