Part chic clam shack and part cozy neighborhood cocktail bar, Extra Fancy takes the classic poutine dish of fried potatoes topped with cheese curds and gravy and flips it on its ear. The result: luxurious lobster-bisque fries.
The fries are the brainchild of chef Shanna Pacifico (formerly of Back Forty West and Cozinha Latina in New York City), and they're basically a beautiful pile of hand-cut crispy batons served with bits of fresh-pulled Maine lobster meat, plus sweet shrimp, poached egg and tobiko (fish roe). Everything gets drenched in a savory lobster-bisque gravy, making this anything but your typical side order of fries.
Bonus: Should the munchies hit after a night out in Williamsburg (the hot Brooklyn neighborhood where the restaurant is located), head straight to Extra Fancy for a fix. The kitchen here is open until 4 a.m. You just might spot some of NYC's renowned chefs indulging in post-work snacks inches away from you.
