We thought we'd hit peak weird-celebrity-eating-habits when we found out Tom Brady has never eaten a strawberry. Or again when we heard about Chrissy Teigen licking the seasoning off chips to stay trim, or Jimmy Kimmel's horrendous food routine. But it’s possible that Mariah Carey has set the new gold standard with her “wait-a-second-you-eat-what???” diet.
If you know anything about Mimi, besides of course her five-octave range or her record for most number one singles by a solo artist ever, you might have heard whispers that she can maybe, maybe, be a little bit of a diva. Maybe you heard that she spends $46,000 a year on dog spa treatments for her pups. Or maybe you happened to catch that picture of her closet she put on Instagram:But we’re here to say we think that’s all overblown. After all, when it comes to eating, something people can be notoriously picky about, Mariah is hardly difficult. She doesn’t demand only the most exclusive restaurants in the world, or pay millions to fly in the finest ingredients money can buy. Instead, she keeps it easy and eats just two simple ingredients: salmon and capers. Specifically, Norwegian salmon and capers. Which reminds us of a certain scene from this little movie. But we digress.
As Carey recently revealed to E!, the secret behind her flawless figure doesn’t come from cardio or chip-licking, but rather sticking with those two basic ingredients for her diet. As she reveals it: “It’s really hard…my diet, you would hate it …all you eat is Norwegian salmon and capers every day, that’s it.”
She goes on to laugh, but remains firm, “I try to stick with proteins…it’s the worst.”
Whatever she’s doing, apparently it's working. But in that same breath we have to say there are a few food habits that just aren’t worth a perfect physique, or even immortality. Capers everyday is one of them.
Maybe we’ll just grab lunch with Tom Brady instead.
